Is there a modification possible for pre 2009 E65/E66 such that the angel eyes are on whenever the car is running?
Appears newer model BMWs always have their angel eyes on.

All you have to do is move the headlight knob to the second one from the right - these are the parking lights and it turns on the angel eyes. Just make sure to set the knob back to "0" or auto before you turn the car off.

not possible

I'm sure there is some sort of custom coding that can be done though INPA on the light module to have the angel eyes on when the car is on.

only with the hids u can set them up as day time running lights. OP was asking to make them run as we see on newer bmws they are on as day time running lights with no other lights on.... thats not possible for our cars. maybe change wires but u cant get it done by coding.... ppl asked/ask and will ask this question over and over and many ppl spent a lot of time trying to get it done

I removed my daytime yellow bulbs & set it second to last knob.

Set it second to last knob. What does it mean.

When you look at your headlight knob - turn it to the right and don't keep it on the last one, but the second one from the right.

Yes, I tried it and that does leave the angle eyes on like with the new models. I can definitely see myself forgetting to turn them off. But if I get the bright white angle eyes I might try it routinely hoping to manage the risk of forgetting to turn off and a dead battery.

The flasher, is that a German Autobahn thing specifically for warning slow cars ahead? Those flashers turn on only with the stalk depressed.

yes. The car bonged at me. Only one bong but that should be enough to remind me to turn off the lights
