My 02 745l wont recognize the key after 20 or more tries HELP!!!!

Hello everyone!! I'm having problems with my car again!!! now the key wont stay on I need to press it 20 or more time before the car will recognize it and lets me start the car, very frustrating:(. I took the car to the mechanic and he could not find anything wrong with it no codes!!!! the dealer said I should change the CAS (ignition) which it cost $700 + labor..
Has anyone had anything like this happen ??
Please Help!!! I don't want to spend the $$ if it could be something else

You may have already done this but have you tried changing the battery in your key?

And to be honest man, you have an 02 and they have plenty of problems. If you're going to have to drop >$1k on this car right now, it may be worth it to try and sell it and upgrade to a 2006 and up 750 when you can afford it. Just my 2 cents though :)
