I'm not a fan of multiple posts on multiple forums, but the response to my problem has been poor.
I'm reposting here as this has to be the busiest forum and the only enlightenment started here....
My car has developed an interesting characteristic / fault ?
Basically when I power down the car and eject the key, the steering wheel lowers to the bottom of its range and stops.
I can stop it going by pushing up on the adjuster on the column.
Initially I thought it was a memory issue but no amount of resetting the seat memory fixes it. The memory functions fine for the seating position but appears to ignore the steering wheel.
I found this thread here on Bimmerfest (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=627358&highlight=5d38) which pointed me towards the CIM module, via this page on WDS (http://wds.spaghetticoder.org/en/zinfo/EBU0301004323001.htm)
Out came INPA and diagnosed a 5D35 fault in the CIM module not a 5D38 ??, which I reset, but this makes no difference.
I have disconnected the battery and left it off for about half an hour, but that doesn't have any effect either.
Any other suggestions out there ?
Should I try a reset of the SM_FA module for the seat with NCS Expert/Dummy ?
