Street legal. No ABS, no DSC, no Airbags. The engine is coming from Honda (Civic Type R), with 220 hp, catapulting it from 0 to 62mph in 3.6 secs.

Six speed manual, sitting on the adjustable shocks (Billstein / Eibach combo)

It weighs 520 kg (470 kg in race trim)

I doubt it could be street legal here in the US, no bumpers etc. But I'll bet that would be one fun track car! :D

Same here. No way that car (?) could be registered here.

However, they are offering a Road Pack in the UK, which includes headlights, blinkers, catalysator, horn, hood and rearview mirrors. :D

Any talk on price :dunno: . If it was somewhat reasonable, I would definitley consider it for a track car

There are two versions at the moment.

160 hp - 5 speed manual - $ 33.600
220 hp - 6 speed manual - $ 40.800

converted from Euro, but since the car is not officialy available in Germany, these numbers are probably converted from Queen's currency.

Single or multi speed wipers?

I'm not buying it if it doesn't have auto rain-sensing wipers. :p

Very cool.

Dear Alex:

Here's proof that the Atom can (and has been) registered in the USA.

It's no joke. At present this is the only example completed (built) in the USA and I have another race replica on the way.

Best regards,

Rob

Dear Rob,

welcome to the Bimmerfest :)

Thanks for sharing the pictures.

I'm in Germany, hence my comment.

By the way, are you affiliated to Ariel Motor Company ?

CAR magazine ran a comparison between the Atom and CL65 AMG. The Atom ran a 12.3 quarter mile (with an inexperienced driver). Of course, the AMG ran it in 11.8 sec. A rematch on a road course would be interesting.

Some states would probably let you register it, but it varies between states. Not much siller than a Caterham 7, another car from the same people who made Monte Python.

It already has them. When the water hits your face, your arm will automatically wipe your face as a reflex.

Definitely siller than a Caterham. The Caterham at least has an enclosed frame and a top than can be put up.

does anyone know what the Atom (either the normal versions or the supercharged one) will do in the quarter mile?

It's still not a Radical. And people have gotten those registered here.

What about the model tested by Top Gear? Jeremy Clarkson said it was "300hp" and will do 0-60mph in "2.9s if you can shift gears fast enough". During driving he said "You can forget anything you have ever driven. There is no car, nothing on four wheels, that's as fast as this. Nothing."

Single or multi speed wipers?

Continuously variable speed wipers, depending on how tired your arm gets. What I'm more curious about, given the current weather here, is how good in the HVAC (mainly heat right now), and does it come with all-season tires (or do I need dedicated snow tires.) Do they make an AWD version for bad climates?
:)
