Not many people in the audio forum so I decided to post my question here. I am installing 2 12" subs and an amp in the trunk of my '01 330Ci. Can someone tell me everything I will need to do to install them? Specifically, how to wire the subs and amp into my car stereo system. It's stock, not H/K btw. Thanks a lot.

Me and my friends wired and installed my amp and 2 12's ourselves. It wasn't all that hard. Your battery is in the trunk, so get some 8 gague or so for that and connect it right to the amp, your radio should have RCA outputs, so you're going to have to get an RCA wire and run it from the back of your radio, under the glove compartment, around near the door, then look behind/under the seats for a hole to the trunk, it's there. after you do those two things, it's just a matter of getting a box that fits and an amp that can pump out your sound. good luck!

Use caution running the RCAs down the passenger side, you can pick up a lot of *noise* form the power source running along there.
And since I am back from vacation, I will move this to audio since I go there at least :) Wait, I can't move this thread from the is Forum :(

Thanks a lot, sounds easy enough to me. I'm sure it's easier said than done though just like every mod I do to my car.

How do you connect the RCA cables to the stock headunit?

You don't, you need to run line level into the amps or use a VEN4 convertor (or similiar type of unit).

Why do some people run the RCA cables to the headunit and some don't? What's the difference?

Your head unit does not have RCA outs so you have no option to do so without a convertor.

How do I hook it up without using the headunit?

If you mean with a new head unit :dunno: RCAs to amps if so (or symbilink in my case)

I would have a PRO do it...experience = CLEAN job.

I'm just trying to save some money by doing it myself, the local audio shop wants an arm and a leg to do it.

A shop is no guarantee of a clean job. I've seen more hack jobs from shops than from people's garages.
