are there any after market tints which do not leave the 'bubble border' where the defrost texture is on the rear window?

My understanding is that it's more dependent upon the installer's skill than the film itself, but I don't have aftermarket tint so what do I know! :)

correct. Some places can get around to it without even sanding the dot matrix, and some places will still get bubbles even after sanding it down. It really depends on their skill level.

soo.... any 'good places' to get a tint w/o the bubbles in houston?? anyone? I am not sure it all depends on the shop. I have been told that there needs to be some follow up by the car owner. Run you finger with a paper towel over the dot matrix repeatedly duriing the first week after the intallation. Now they tell me.
Your first focus should be what brand and type of film you want on your car. Then ask for possible recommendations for installation. If you come join for the Bimmerfest SE TX/Houston get together on August 7 you will be able to checks all the different tints we have on our cars. Check this thread (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?p=837897#post837897) out and this one (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67266).
