I've had clear bra installed on my previous cars and must say that there are pros and cons to it. Thinking of installing for the 7. But before doing so, wondering if you guys get alot of rock chips on your 7s. Some cars are just prone to it.
Congratulations on your new 7. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with mine and hope you will experience the same. As for the clear bra, I did not do one on my 7 although I have installed them on all the other cars I've owned, including the 4S I'm driving now. For some reason the 7 wasn't much of a chip magnet.
LeslieRc... love the Pana. That's what I would have gotten if I didn't need to fit 3 carseats in back.
1bad540...some of the edges have dirt and wax residue that just would not come off. Here in FL, we get alot of Love Bugs and if you don't clean it off right away, it will leave marks on the film. So at the end of the day, I feel as if I'm saving it for the next guy.
yea thats always been my worry. i was going to do my 7 when i first got it, I would say just do the strip that covers the 1st 6" of the hood. i never did and it still looks just about perfect.
My 2009 750i I picked up a few weeks ago has the clear bra. At first I hated it due to the wax you can see around the edges. After it warms up and I buff the entire car and seal it I will see how it looks. I still might keep it. How difficult are they to remove?
Depends on how long it has been on. Can be a real PITA. If you DIY, let it bake in the sun for a good few hrs. or use a hair dryer/heat gun. Also get some M3 adhesive remover. The residue is the hard part, but can be done.
Jeffnin...that's how it all begins. The worst are rocks being shot at windshields at high speed.
Perhaps I should bubble wrap my car. I think I'll end up gettting it anyways. Thanks for the visual. :yikes:
I would go for it. I have 500 miles on my new 7, and I just got my first rock chip yesterday on my hood from a gravel truck that I wasn't able to avoid. While the chip would still have shown with the clear bra, at least the paint wouldn't have been damaged. Off to the dealer for some touch up paint.
I had the entire nose of my 750 covered with the 3M bra, this includes the fenders forward, the back of the mirrors, the entire hood, headlights, and the bumper. It was done by a company called Autoarmour in Maryland. I decided on this because I hate to see where the clear bra stops on a hood so I decided to cover the entire nose plus it provides great protection. You cannot tell that it is even on the car. Most people don't believe me when I tell them until I show them the underside of the hood where the 3M film edge can be seen.
