I am considering buying a '01 330ci convertible. Is there anything I need to know about this model year, any issues or problems? What options are considered required by most enthusiasts? Any information or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.

I bought a new 01' 330 cic convert, and had it for about 2 years and 30,000 miles. Car was mostly trouble free and built solid, without sqeaks and rattles.

Car was pre-June build with the lighter steering. Was not aware of this change, and I feel this did take away from the driving pleasure.

I also think the 3 series cab. is not the best BWM in terms of driving satisfaction. First off its 10% heavier than sedan/coupe, and although solid, there is the typical cowl and steering shake you get with most converts. Best thing is to test drive and see how it feels.

There was a recall for auxiliary fans that would fail and cause overheating. It only applies to manual transmissions and cars built (approx) before 5/01. The other issue is the 'sticky pedal' which causes the gas pedal to feel notchy in hot weather. There is a TSB out for this and it's a simple replacement.
