While I was waiting (not very patiently - Greg Poland can attest to this) for my spot with the F&I person, I saw this in the lobby...
It was quite stunning, I was a little shocked by the sticker, you either have to be abundantly secure financially, a very very big BMW enthusiast, or your company is paying your entire car bill no questions.
There are a lot better options for $200k... Again gorgeous car nonetheless.
Ah it's no big deal, every dealer does that kind of stuff. It's just a way to make it seem like their cars are in such high demand that people are willing to pay a premium over MSRP.
I don't think that 760 will be selling anytime soon. Even in my area where I've seen just about every kind of car, I still haven't seen a 760 on the road - and that's without a huge markup and that ridic V12 badging everywhere! I have seen a few Alpinas though.
I think I'm insane enough to have purchased my 2013 750i with a significant discount.
I would institutionalize myself if I came home with this.
While shopping a few weeks ago, saw a 2012 760 for high $80k. Was very tempted, but how can I even justify a V12 as my DD.
I had a V10 daily driver a short while back...along with a healthy relationship with a few gas stations. Perhaps without knowing it, you make another good point when you mention the '12 760i you saw. The sticker for that car was probably around $130k, and it's selling in the $80k range a year later. These cars take a terrific hit on depreciation in the first few years.
Let me chime in before to much blogging drama starts........ #1 it ain't my store...................... #2 I do not make up the rules....., #3 don't hold this against me and how I do business, I don't sell cars at this price most of you should know that by now...... this is bringing me back to that 1M with the huge markup, uuuhhh so much drama with that!!!. Excessive in my opinion.... FYI... for those who care....it's one of 25 in the US. Peace to all festers... appreciate the support and business over the years. Hope this blows over soon.
Here in the heartland where we freeze our rear ends off this time of year we don't see that dealer markup crap(not where I buy anyway), I think this abuse is more prevalent on the coasts. Mine had a slightly higher sticker(no additional dealer markup) but after BMW stepped up on buying my Alpina back I could not pass it up. They have only built 15 of these and to my knowledge they are not all sold, probably for the reasons listed in this post, above MSRP and the badging. I was not a fan of the badging but the car is so exceptional I got over it fast and the engine, well it's exceptional but like all 760's, still quite the power plant.
With all of the mpg deadlines on the horizon, maybe we won't be seeing V12's from the major manufacturers any longer. I guess all of the badging is a way to announce that you scored one of the last ones!
