Was happenin all?

I finally became a bimmer owner in January after many, many years of waiting. I'm now getting oriented and am starting to look at mod options for my bimmer.

I am going to the store in about 2 hours to pick up my mini iPod, which I plan on integrating into my bimmer. I've looked over all the forums, and have come to the conslusion that the Dension icelink is the way to go, since the BMW adapter won't fit the MY car I own.

I'm very concerned with the installation, as I have never taken apart a bimmer before, and am really worried about scratching or breaking something in the interior. I'm going to call Dension and work with them, but wanted to know how easy the installation is. Apparently, KrisL seems to be the icelink guru, and even offered to help install if you were in the bay area!! That's sweet. Unfortunately, I'm a NYer, so that's quite the drive (although I would do it if I could take time off of work!) ha!

Anyway, just wanted to say hey, and ask for any advice from people who have installed the Dension Icelink in their car (particularly the parts about running the cable, and taking apart the dash). Thanks!!

Hey,

I really love my car, but the more and more I read the postings on this forum, the more and more I want to switch to a 330Ci ZHP or a 330i ZHP... lol!!! not sure which one I would get though. I must admit, I do miss the RWD, and manual transmission. I mainly got the automatic because I do alot of highway driving, and I didn't want to deal with the manual in traffic.

Anyway, I'm still curious to know about the experienced bimmer owner's experiences with any DIYs that you have done. I'm thinking of doing my first oil change this weekend. I have seen the postings for the oil change using the extractor (like on BMW325i.net), but I'd rather use the oil plug on the bottom to be sure I get everything (particularly any sediment on the bottom).

If anyone has any advice they could give me, I'd appreciate it. I've also seen multiple different postings on what kind of oil to use (Mobil, Valvoline, different weights, etc), so I'm still confused on what oil to use. Any light that could be shed on this would really help. I'm a newbie when it comes to BMWs, let alone mechanic work, so please bear with me. Thanks!

As for the oil change, make sure that you get a new drain plug gasket (little washer thing)--I think there is one on all the e46s. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong. You don't want to have a leak later b/c of reusing the gasket washer. You'll definitely want to replace the filter too.

OK. But what does wanting a ZHP or a DIY oil change have to do with installing an iPod :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

Very True... I decided to switch gears a bit since nobody was responding to my original post.. :bawling: I'm giving up the iPod for now, 'cause I really think I'm going to buy a 330i ZHP.

Maybe I'll post a new topic...
