I'm running TOYO Proxes, T1-S's and they are good tires. Ready for new tires and am looking for suggestions. I have winter wheels with snow tires, so I'm interested in suggestions for a summer high performance tire. My current tire size is 225/50ZR16 and I'm happy with that.

I've run Pilot Sports and Potenza S03s... both are great tires. Read the reviews on tirerack.
ps2's or gy gsd-f1 :dunno:
how do you like the t1-s ? don't want them again?

My current tire size is 225/50ZR16 and I'm happy with that.I've had Yokohama AS100, Kumho 712, Continental Sports (is that what they're called) and Michelin Pilot Sports on various cars.
The Yokos and Kumhos were cheap and great for the first 5,000 or so miles, then got hard and noisy. I didn't like anything about the Continentals. So far, my Michelins have been an absolute dream - they are quiet, stick like glue and the car rides well. My business partner has the Michelins on his 997 and has had a great experience over many many miles. The car got much quieter and rode better when he switched from Conti to Michelin too.
Unfortunately, the Michelins are pricey, but if you can afford them, I recommend them highly. I hear they last pretty well too. I went through the Yokos in 8K miles on my WRX (granted, aggressive driving).
You have not indicated what you are looking for in a tire or what you would like to change compared to the Toyos. Without that input, it's difficult to make a meaningful recommendation.
That said, I am very impressed with the Michelin PS2s. They are a much better tire than the S-03s.
Does anybody know the primary difference between S-02's and S-03's?
When I put new tires on my car, the Porsche dealership told me S-02's are the recommended tire for my car. :dunno:

Not to be a smartass, but www.tirerack.com
Both tires are detailed on their site. From what I understand, they are decidedly different products.

T1-Ss are very good tires. :dunno: What about them makes you want something else?

the new michelin PS2's are supposed to be much better than the original PS. also the new conti sportcontact2's are supposed to be leaps and bounds better than the original and nearly universally disliked original sportcontact's.
like others have said, what are you looking for in your next tire. :dunno:
If you don't want to go with Toyo again, I'd recommend trying the Goodyear F1 GS-D3, or the Pilot Sport, not the PS2. I think the PS2 starts with 17", not 16.

Tramlining seems to be more apparent as the Toyo's have worn down. Not sure if it's the fact that the tires are pretty well worn or the alignment needs attention. I'll get both taken care of soon, but I wanted some suggestions on tires. I'm inclined to go with the Toyo's again since I'm quite happy with the performance.........except for the tramlining issue I mentioned earlier.
They're also the recommended tire for S2000's.
From what I've read, the S02's suck in rain because they have almost no rain channels. The S03's are one of the best rain tires around.
I guess it's reasonable to infer that the S02 is a more hardcore performance tire meant for dry conditions? :dunno:
i've heard somewhere that the dry perf of the t1s are closer to the sO-2's but i've found the wet perf w/ the t1-s to be very as well. only drawback is the softer sidewalls.

They're quite good. If onlinetires still has its 15" deal going when I kill the ES-100s, I'm getting a set of T1-S. My friend has the latter on his Miata, and so we were able to do a straight comparison between the two, and the T1-S stick better. Good wet tires, too.

they're still on sale at 1010tires.com at 120CAD. they don't list the cheaper price in USD though. 1010tires.com is really volco tires in vancouver. also tiretrends.com in mapleridge, bc. few miles from vancouver sells them for 97USD.

Anything can happen to a completely worn tire due to uneven treadwear. I have 8k miles on my T1-S, and so far it has absolutely no tramlining. In terms of tramlining, it is actually better than most of the ultra high performance tires out there. If this is your sole concern, about 90% of all UHP tires are pretty much disqualified.

The onlinetires special is $59 for 195/50/15, which is a good size for Miatas and E30s running 15". Regular price is $125 for wave's size.

I was underwhelmed with the 712s. Not as good as the ES-100s, and the Toyos are better than both...

Next time, you can tell them to match onlinetires or bugger off.
Next time, you can tell them to match onlinetires or bugger off. :thumbup:i have a feeling it may not be their fault completely. it could be their canadian supplier(s) charging high prices for tires. seems to be the norm that canadian prices are higher. really makes no sense why canadian prices are so high. :tsk: next time i may just buy over the border and pay the extra duty and it's still cheaper. only thing w/ buying online is that i will get charged lots if i need to get them rebalanced (roadforce) like i had to and it's still just only satisfactory and cost me an additional 170cad.

I'm curious also. I'm considering them for both of my cars. BTW, the Goodyears were back ordered 2 months at TR on the size I was looking at...

They keep the car off the ground. That's about the only good thing I can say for them.

My car came w/ Contisports and I was not impressed. I heard alot of good things about ContiSport 2's on tirereck.com. I figured they were worth a shot. 8,000 miles later they are still quiet, handle great, and show marginal wear. I woudl buy them again in a heartbeat.

Didn't see anyone mention them, but I've been happy with the Dunlop SP9000s I've been using on my coupe. Had the same tires on my old Eclipse, and while they didn't have killer outright grip, they were precise, predictable, and lasted well for a summer tire.
Also seemed consistent in the wet, although I'm not sure about their grip with high slip angle + wet tarmac...that seemed to cause problems.
They've been cheap on Tirerack (don't know about 16" sizes, though), which is why I tried them. They might be a little noisy, but I believe they're supposed to be quiter than alternative Dunlops.

Went for the Proxes again.....T1-S's.......had the lower control arms replaced, a 4-wheel alignment and it drives wonderfully.....just like new. Thanx for all of the suggestions, I did consider many of them.

you didn't want to wait a bit for the T1-R's :dunno:

Curiously, nobody mentioned the P-Zero Nero. I thought they were pretty good in the UHP arena. No? Or was size the limiter?
I've been contemplating what to get next. We put Kuhmo Ecsta MX on the Roadster, and so far I like them a lot. They slide predictably, and stick pretty well straight-line. When my OEM Pilot Sports wear out, I'm thinking (now at least) about PS2, Gy F1-GSD (?), or the Neros. Damn, they are all espensive! I should look for a job at Michelin, I think.

not sure what distinguishes the pzero nero (summers) from the other UHP tires. price, weight, cool looking treads, sidewalls, tread life, quiteness/roadnoise :dunno:
