Help !!!!!! :eeps:
Fault-code error
I just had to reset my M3 accesories via my dealer, they called it an error of the "K-bus" and it shut down my Air-conditioning, Streeing wheel controls and Phatbox player.
$200 out of pocket for the reset.
Phatnoise is great and offered a new Blitzsafe or full refund & I absolutely love the product. Grrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!
Dealer says remove phatbox/blitzsafe or plan on a potential reset and charge again.
Has anyone had this experience with a Blitzsafe adapter ???? :dunno:

Has anyone had this experience with a Blitzsafe adapter ???? :dunno:I've had a PhatBox for about 18 months / 24,000 miles and haven't had any problems. I also have the TV tuner and a StealthOne on the bus.
The car occasionally forgets it has any audio equipment installed, but it also did that before I had the PhatBox.
I had a buggy code build (pre-beta test) for the StealthOne, where each time I got a radar alert, the A/C fan speed dropped by one setting.
I've never had a lock-up that required a trip to the dealer - in the worst case, I just disconnected my battery, let things sit, and re-connected.

I would rather keep the unit & may try a new blitzsafe adapter -
When you disconnect battery dont you lose programming ? I would sure have rather saved the $200 on the K-Bus reset.

You keep your radio presets and most everything else. At least on an XI (not sure about non-AWD versions) you get DSC, ABS, and brake fault lights on the next start-up, until the car moves 50-200 feet and the sensors reset. Car and key memory and associated stuff (seat memory, mirror memory) stay. If you have NAV and the battery is off for a while (more than 30 minutes, at least) your NAV will have to re-acquire the satellite almanac data, which means parking the car (running) in an area with good view of most of the sky, for 20 minutes to an hour (wait for the GPS icon to go green).

Hmmm, worth a try if I get a Fault-code problem again, I do not use Nav system. My dilema is that several CD accessory models use Blitzsafe...& I dont really want to be stuck with a BMW 6-cd changer.
Would you suggest I swap the Blitzsafe ? and see how it goes ?... again the Phatnoise people are very supportive and offered a swap or refund....pretty decent imo.

There's no guarantee it actually was caused by the BlitzSafe, though. I suspect your dealer looked at it, found the BlitzSafe, and reset the car. Since that worked, they said "must be the BlitzSafe". There's an awful lot of stuff on the K-bus in the car (aside from the stereo, there's the climate control system, the light control module, the instrument cluster, and the seat memory, at least). And they interact in very subtle ways - during StealthOne development we saw traffic from the seat memory to the TV module. That's because it wants to know if the TV module has a reverse camera and what position the mirror switch is in (which is part of seat memory).

I agree with your position, the dealer said they traced it to the PB changer, but naturally they would say that. I am assuming the BMW 6-cd changer does not use an adapter at all ?.
Thanks for the info.
I've read about a number of random problems with people using Blitzsafe adapters, and many of those people either exchanged them or replaced them with Soundgate adapters. No idea if a Soundgate will work with a phatbox, though.
On my car, disconnecting the battery only affects the OBC and nothing else.

I've read about a number of random problems with people using Blitzsafe adapters, and many of those people either exchanged them or replaced them with Soundgate adapters. No idea if a Soundgate will work with a phatbox, though. The PhatBox BlitzSafe uses 5V signalling instead of 12V (if you open up the adapter and void your warranty you'll see a 5/12 jumper) and allegedly has different timing values coded in the microcontroller. If an adapter from another brand can be modified to use 5V signaling it might work.
As I say, mine has been well-behaved. The few problems I've had with the bus were either unrelated to the BlitzSafe or due to buggy pre-beta code for the StealthOne.
