Have acquired 1994 740iL with broken chains. Does this engine freewheel or should I replace the entire assembly.
I am a parts broker - labor will be approx $750 to $1000 for engine or $1250 for chain and water pump replacements.
Small town, limited local talent - but the shops I work with are expert with Toyota and Volvo.
Please advise especially if the valves will bend when these engines Zing. Mileage around 123,000, car is a repossession that was towed through the sale
We have $1500 invested at this point.
