I am thinking of getting some 17" snows for my M3. What is the average tread life of snow tires? I imagine due to the softer tread compounds they wear rather quickly say 12-15k miles or so....is this correct? I'm just trying to guage how many seasons I'll be able to run them.

TIA

My Blizzaks have 2 winters on them (I did 8k on them last year, not sure how many miles Ack did on them in yr 1) and they are still strong for next winter. IIRC the lowest measurement was 7 when I pulled them off in March.

So 3 heavy use winters at least on my LM22s, 17" variety.

Depends quite a bit on driving style. 15K to 20K, or about 2/3 good winter seasons is an average from our experience.
