Hey all,
I have a question about tire selection.
I'm getting my hands on a set of RD wheels size 17x8.5.
Will I be able to fit 245/40 or even 245/45 in the front and rear?
BTW, my car is an E36 M3.
I'm working on my first R-compound tires.
And I don't think I have a lot of options. The best option that I've seen so far is the V710.
But the V710 doesn't have 245/40, only the 245/45, which I think maybe too thick for my fenders. Coz I have GC springs which lowers the car.
Other than that, I was told that the Pilot cup sports are good as well, but maybe too expensive.
Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I think it may be difficult to find an answer for this question due to the variables involved.

I ended up selling my E36 M3 before changing out the OE wheel & tire setup, but I remember there were a number of people with stock suspensions who ran stock BMW 17 x 8.5 wheels and 245/40R-17 tires front and rear. Others tried it and got rubbing.

Stock 8.5-inch wide BMW wheels have a 41mm offset (ET41.) So with stock suspension (which you don't have) and IF the RD wheels have an offset close to 41, you might be able to run those front and rear with 245/40s. I think 245/45s are out of the question.

Good luck!
