It's time to give Barney the ultimate carnauba treatment.

You have to post pics when you're done.

Since I finally have a car that could benefit from a carnauba on top of SG, I have to make a decision about which one to use, and Pinnacle is on the short list. I'm breaking out the Porter Cable this weekend to rid myself of oxidation on the e30.

I'll definitely post pictures. I have read/heard very good things on Pinnacle. The photos I've seen so far rocked. It's supposed to be one of the best (if not the best) carnauba waxes on the market.

The application and removal is supposed to be very easy too. Goes on and off like butter. We'll see.

It smells great too :)

So, here are the results. I'm very impressed with Souveran. The easiest and painless waxing experience I've had till yet. Wax on, wax off. I've waxed and buffed off the car in 15 minutes.

One word : It glows, I've used Zaino, I've used Meguiar's NXT and so on, but I've never seen such a deep wet look.

Now on to the pictures.

Alex,

:yikes:

That looks incredible. And my experience is that pics never do the real thing justice. I'm ordering some today. Pics next weekend for me.

Hi Alex,

Yes, the photos don't justice the real thing. You should see it in person. Apply very thin coats, it's a little difficult to see how much product you are applying, but try to apply very thin.

You don't need to wait it to fully haze, just wax on and buff off with a MF towel. Shake the towel to shed the dried wax on towel.

You'll be amazed :)

Thank You ! :D

Yeah, the stuff is a little expensive, but one jar is good for 15-20 applications. I've got it through someone who got it from the USA for me. It costs $59.95 :eeps:

Looks fantastic! I've heard rave reviews about the pinnacle, but first time being able to see pictures of it. Keep us posted on the durability of the product! I haven't gone back to carnauba since the Blitz I used only lasted about a month...and I'm too lazy to wax more than 4X/year :)

Wow, that does look very nice! Are you serious, only 15 minutes to wax and polish the whole car? Very impressive! I may have to give this product a try.

Yup, only 15 minutes. No wait time, as I've written above, just wax on and buff.

so how did you apply? did you pop the wax out of the container and wipe it onto a foam pad?

Yes, just used the foam pad that came with it. Thin coats, as if you are applying Zaino.

Give it a try, that stuff is impressive :)

what prep did you give barney before the waxing?

did you clay and/or polish? or just wash and wax?

looks great

No prep at all  The paint was already in good condition, it spent the whole winter in the garage, seen rarely rain. :eeps:

I'll put another coat tomorrow.

Okay Alex. You motivated me. I'm just waiting on the Pinnacle to arrive. I spent all day today with my buddy Porter Cable removing years of oxidation from the new old car. Finished with AIO and one coat of SG. I'll put a couple more coats of SG on before the Pinnacle shows up. This is a bad, out of focus picture (got nervous about the gas station thinking I was a terrorist so only took one shot), but the car looks completely different after getting rid of the oxidation; I didn't realize how bad it was until I started removing it. I can't wait to see what it looks like finished with Pinnacle.

I know people like seeing photos, but there's no way that they're indicative of how the car really looks. I washed my E46 this morning with its nearly 2-mo-old Klasse (only 1 coat of SG and AIO, no subsequent 'maintenance' other than this being its 2nd wash since) and from a photographing distance, it looked as shiny and reflective as anything I've ever seen posted here. :dunno:

Very true. But it's like a mental masturbatory thing. Posting the pic takes away some of the pain of 10 hours of work. :)

Curious- have you tried p21S carnauba? If so, what did you think? Its still my favorite-- easy to apply and remove, and a great shine.

Rob, P21S is my next project. I've ordered a jar, supposed to be here sometime this week. I've read very good reviews about it. The price is good too.

Thanks, I have a half a container of the P21s left that will get me through until middle of next summer. The Souveran is nice stuff but according to my wife I have spent all my allotted money for detailing products for the year. :(

Okay, I followed Alex B.'s lead and did the Pinnacle on top of a Klasse AIO and a few coats of Klasse SG.

It went on and off like buttah. And it smelled great, like bananas maybe?

My pics just don't do it justice, combination of mediocre camera, dying light, and sucky photographer. Oh yeah, a 13 year old car prolly has something to do with it too. :p

Another 24 hours passed and I applied Pinnacle Souveran on half of the car.
In person, one could easily see the line running across from hood to roof to trunk. You still can sort of see it in the last picture. This shows how pictures don't do justice to the real thing. In real life, the black from Pinnacle is much deeper and wet looking than the one from Zaino.

Another couple of days and I have the entire car with 2 layers of Pinnacle over 2 layers of Zaino.
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=37340

To further my point that picture can't capture the real thing, I played with the last picture by changing contrast and brightness.
I can basically make it look anyway I want...

:dunno:
My point is exactly that pictures have no value at all for wax show off purposes. :p
However, I tried to do it fair and square and somewhat scientifically.
All picture were taken at around the same time of the day (~6pm).
All picture were taken with the AUTO setting in the camera.
All pictures were converted to jpg and resized in software and post processed with the Auto option in the software.
The last one was the only one manually processed, for artistic effect.
The actual look is somewhere in between the last 2 pictures.

Here's a better one:

P21S Concours Look Carnauba Wax: $30.
S100 Carnauba Wax: $15.

Same exact stuff, and S100 is easily available at any Harley Davidson shop.

Right have been trying to find exactlty what the differance betwwen the P21S and the S100 is. Anyone have a informed answer on this. I'm kind of far away from a Harley shop so the gas and drive wouldn't be worth the 15 dollars savings.

CMA does sell the stuff online.

I've done a lot of Internet research on this issue, and have found no conclusive evidence that they are or are not the same product. There is plenty of anecdotal evidence from folks who have used both products which suggests that the products are indeed identical.

Perhaps a phone call to P21S could clear up the issue, but I've been too lazy to do that.

A 15 dollar difference in price is strange. Either there is a difference or they are seriously ripping off people who buy their wax marketed to car owners.
