THE END
A good time was had by all!
I am still here, and to the best I can see THE LAST ONE>
I am waiting a little extra time for the hurricane and the exodius back to florida to calm a little.
I will leavce in real early in the AM.
Meet new friends and enjoyed old ones. Bought new mod parts, ate too much, sleep too little, had lots of fun, and above all ENJOYED THE Z3 PEOPLE!
Some are home, some are still on the road (max?) like Ron. He's minutes from home.
We looked under hoods under bumpers, ( not everyone had a carpet to do so like Randy!) inside and out. We hope the Z4 people get the mod bug, they don't seem to yet!
Our local ambassador Dwayne went above and beyond to be a gracious host and TRUE SOUTHERN GENTLEMAN.
Leather Z pulled out all the stops and had the BEST VENDOR representation ,IMO, for the weekend. They had realy thoughtout Z4 parts and equally thoughtful z3 old reliable parts. Their quality is above all I have experienced.
Every home comming I try the Leather Z arm rest Mark 1 and 2. every year I can't decide. This year I scored and have the Mark 1 and LOVE IT! (already)
See you next year!
p.s. sorry no pic's, I switched to APPLE and my camera doesn't plug in yet.

Dwayne really is a great bloke and Randy's personal roadside assistant
:)
Dwayne, thanks for being the ever-gracious local escort, good eats guide, pit crew for Randy's car, cone provisions, etc. We couldn't ask for a more accomodating local gentleman.
Max, thanks for the company and everything else from Tapoco onward. Too much to thank you for here, but I'm already looking forward to doing it again next year.
Ron, thanks for everything (wheel pins, Koni small tab adjuster tool, clutch pedal, and the ever-useful wisdom).
Andy, Jon and Ken... thanks for the T-shirt and the pile of business cards (I was fresh out). Not to mention the Euro triangle. As usual, you guys are the best. You'll be hearing from me soon for SS exhaust. Of course I'm looking forward to seeing the Rogue diff covers arrive. I'm about full on everything else you've got for the M roadster. :) I'll keep passing out cards to other potential customers at my local dealer.
Randy and Terry, thanks for the run up 276. Not often I get to eat up asphalt with other M roadster drivers that know what they're doing. Much less mountain roads.
Randy and Sue, thanks for the company on the drive home and the tolerance of my semi-frequent stops to stretch my back. I made it home w/o needing to hit the meds, which is a good thing in my book. You know how I feel about you folks... I'm looking forward to the lasting friendship.
Bob, thanks for the usual good spirits and stories. Next year, I'm buying the beer at the tent. Hope the hurricane shutters held and that all is well at home.
Fred, nice to meet you and share the ProjectorZ pain. Loved the get-up on Saturday night. :)
Dale, very nice to meet you, and I hope your CompuStar works out well. Didn't mean to scare you, and I don't think you'll have trouble. It's only the spread-spectrum models that have been flaky... the FM units work fine. You should be good to go indefinitely.
Count, nice to meet you, however brief. Next year, plan ahead a little bit or just ask... Max and I would gladly have let you crash on the couch in our room.
Brent, I hope all keeps going well with the 6-speed and that Paul gets you set up with the right car cover. :)
Minsoo, Nick, Arslan, Bob Margolis, nice to meet you and hope to see you next year.
RedJen, nice to meet you and hope the clutch stays healthy (long enough to trade up to an M coupe? :)).
Al, I vote you sell the condo... you weren't around enough!
I know I'm missing some people, but I have to work tomorrow and I haven't even finished unpacking. In any event, I hope you all make it next year! For the Florida gang, I hope you all make it through this hurricane season intact!

I am home in Jacksonville after driving through the storm. Gordon and Brent were on their way back down to Orlando, not sure if they made it yet.
This weekend was phenomenal. Although Brent is the one with the car and I just kinda rode along, I still had a wonderful time and was amazed at how welcoming everyone was. Everyone seemed to at least try to include me in things which was great and helped out a lot. Hopefully I will be able to see many of you again. I greatly enjoyed your company. I have to admit thinking you all to be a little crazy at first when I heard about this trip, but now that I have experienced it myself, I can see why you want to go back each year, because I would like to be a part of this event again as well.
Again, everyone thanks for everything, I had a blast. With me not being so big of a car enthusiast, I never dreamed I would have so much fun at a car event such as this. Hope to see you all next year!

That is the exact reason why it was it was so important to get Sue to the 2001 Event (well, that and she's the title holder of the gray car we took delivery of the day before HC at the PDC ;) ).
I felt it was important for her to know that there are much worse cases than myself(fortunately, she met Ron & Al the night we arrived and that proved my point :) ).
It was nice to see some fresh faces this year, looking forward to seeing you & Brent again next year (even if you have to come in separate Z3s/M-Coupes).

I just walked through the door. Its been a rough day and a half of driving down back roads and avoiding the interstates that I hear are clogged or washed out in places. The driving was fun, if not tedious. Gordon, Sharon, his boys, and Fabian and I all blasted down varoius back woods georgia highways. It was great fun. No one seemed to be heading south on these roads except for national guard convoys. And they were all doing 55 mph. But other than the blinding rain for hours and hours it seemed to clear up when we got far enough east. Orlando actually seems to be quite OK after the storm. Parts north of Orlando seem to have no gas and no power, but everything here appears to be ok.
As far as homecoming. I had so much fun, I passed out every night with my clothes on. It was wonderful meeting everyone. I cant wait till next year, and if there is anything I can do for anyone, please feel free to ask.

At least I got to put on the rubber boot ;) Did it make a difference in cockpit noise?
thanks for that
it's quieter now (but still there). i am going to take out everything down to the rubber boot (don't wanna touch that)...and drive around with only the shift knob, should help me determine the source. not sure if the noise is coming from the center console or under the rubber boot.
the only thing under the boot it could be is the selector rod isn't all the way through the shift lever and it's vibrating. doubt it, though, b/c i checked and double checked that.
don't know if you looked at the selector rod/circlip? anyway, i'll figure it out...

Yes, it looked fine. If the selector rod wasn't all the way in, you couldn't even get the circlip started.

that means it's probably wires moving around in there (my illum. shift knob maybe). thanks again.

Glad you enjoyed the cookies. They were great currency around the tech tent too. :D I think I had about 10 guys and gals working on my car at one time. Gotta bring more cookies next year ...
Made it home safe and sound Sunday evening. Nice thing about living an hour away.
The wire thing ... well, I think Ron's initial supposition may be correct. I was under the dash Sunday evening working on the glovebox and discovered that the wires leading to the passenger airbag look very much like the twisted pair leading into the connector ... glad I didn't cut the wires or pull the plug before figuring out what they go to :yikes: Still haven't confirmed that is what they are but it looks very suspicious to me. Wondering if its the vestigal side airbag connections ... :dunno:

Bob, how's the fish tank?
well I made it home
.
I waited until tue am (4:30) to depart for florida. Glad I did. Except the rain and wind in georgia. Very tiring to drive focused so intently on the road in the dark gripping the wheel tightly to counter act the hydroplaning. Gas was difficult in northern florida. Glad I brought 10 extra with me.
Car is filthy.
My 90 gal salt water tank was a disaster when I got here. No Power for 5 days to run the filter. My biggest and most expensive fish died and all the living coral. bummer.
But....My favorite pair were there looking out from a cave. My Tomato Clowns were alive!
Two days of cleaning and water changes.
My house survived despite the sandblasting it took. Across from me is the next phase of my town. the sand filled the pool and stripped the leaves off the shrubs.
Many of the traffic lights are missing as well as all the stop and warning signs. wonder where they all went? anyone find about a 100 stop signs?
gas lines are back and the food store looks like those pictures were saw of russian stores during the cold war! EMPTY. anyone for sourkraut?
I'm keeping the storm shutters up because Ivan is on the way.
How did you do this time shawn?

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ftp/graphics/AT09/refresh/AL0904W5+GIF/051733W5.gif
We have more trees down. Areas that we thought we were done cleaning up now need to be cleaned up again. We lost more panels out of our screen enclosure around the pool. There is standing water in the back acreage from all the rain. Our down tree count is now close to 100. But, the house is OK and the dogs are OK.
And yes, we have the drill down now, but we really, really don't need another one, any of us.
