From HC: Anyone King Rat?

I used BMW's cars at the Performance Center event 2.

We got to use 330i ZHP on a wet oval in a "Rat Race". Basically 2 cars start on opposite sides of an oval and race for 4 laps. It was a single elimination until a "King Rat" was declared.

I won in my group.

I want some cheese!!!!


Next at another area we did a modified road race with Z4s equiped with SMG. Imagine 2 circles, one inside the other with entrance and exits on opposite sides. The course as a half circle on the inner exiting onto the outer circle with a slalom a short straight and a hard left into the inner half circle (on the other side) once again. 5 laps, no time to declare an overall winner, but I won my heat. Also when I ran the inner circle was very as the sprinklers were turned on to make the inner surface slick. What fun!!!!


Finally the third event was an offroad course in your choice of X3 or X5. Holy **** was I scared during this event! Major downhills, uphills, sideways slants, rocks, rivers and other offroad obstacles. I have never driven an offroad vehicle, let alone a roadworthy one with stock tires on such terrain.

What a blast.

I can say I am a partial King Rat, but not with a X3 or X5, but with my BIG RED Toyota 4WD! :rofl: I was wondering if you made it to HC this year.
Was the normal gang there this year? Did you bring that new guy that you meet at AutoX this summer?

I won the 330i ZHP course and my round at the Z4s. If there was time, it would have been nice to have a proper finals event.

Sue & I did the Driving Event 2 also.

In our run group, it came down to her and I in the 330s. I beat Sue, now how good is that?! First two laps (of the finale) had her out by a nose, the next two laps were a dead heat and I "lengthened" the hood to edge out on the last lap :p

There was little doubt I was the fastest in our group in the Z4s too, based on the instructor's commentary (Sue was listening to them talk amongst each other).

We did the X5 thing last year too, so we knew what to expect (won't ever do that in ours though).

We're planning on getting another X5 in January and picking that one up at the PDC so we can do the entire "other roads" program.

All in all, GREAT FUN! Thank you BMW :banana:

Came in 2nd in zhp and pretty used the Z4 as a cone smasher... should have riden with someone else befire I tried that course... haha

Any other King Rats?


I went up against Jim early on and after a couple of fights with the traction control, he lost a little time and I managed to nose him out, then went on to win the group.

So far as I know, the one and only Queen Rat!

My friend, Kevin West, that attended HC in place of my wife, was KING RAT, in our group.
