I just read an article in Car & Driver - October 2004 issue that theE90 will be a 2006 model - available in Fall of 2005.... then, I've also read in forums, etc. that they will be 2005 models - available this fall....
So what is the "real" scoop?? I'm thinking of doing an ED next spring - and would really like to know if the new models are available early 2005 or not.
Please help....

Sorry for that last reply. I see you are a newer member looking for help. I don't have the anwser, but would be interested in knowing as well. If you find out please share the information.
ED would be a blast, I have been to Munich to the museum, but did not do the factory tour.
Good luck.

Fall of 2005.
Much quicker to type that than "Please search for the answer amongst the existing messages, as this has already been discussed to great length."
Good luck on your purchase!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding of the timeline on the upcoming 3er lineup is as follows:
2006 models (Fall 2005 availability)
New Sedan (E90)
No Coupe
E46 M3 (last year of production)
2007 models (Fall 2006 availability)
Sedan (E90)
New Coupe (E9x)
No M3
2008 models (Fall 2007 availability)
Sedan (E90)
Coupe + cab (?)
New V8 M3/M4
2007 is a LOOONG time to wait!

What about the E91 (wagon), guys? We are thinking of doing an ED & extended Euro vacation next summer.
Will the current E46 wagons be oout of production?
Frankly, I'd rather have a heavily discounted E46 than a buggy first year model (new engine, too).
Thanks,
adc

If I were to bet, I'd say the US won't get the wagons. We have the X3. And BMW assumes we are all lemmings. Too bad sales figures back them up.

When I stopped by a couple dealers a few weeks ago, both told me the 2005 will be a short run of about 6 months (Sept 04 to March 05) and the new E90 should be here as soon as Spring 05 or Summer 05.

For me, whatever is available in April of 2005 will be it... as our lease on our current car expires in June.... last model year or new model w/"bugs".... what a choice!!! The experience of picking it up in Germany will be our primary focus.
Anyone else out there thinking of an ED next April?

E46 M3 is more of a classic to my eyes than the new M5 or most probably the new M3...\
Newer cars tend to be too commercial, not enthousiast cars.

That would be fantastic. I would really like to do a Euro delivery lease sometime in the late summer next year. Unfortunately, I have this feeling that getting a new 3-series so soon will come with a premium. Any thoughts on how hard it will be to get one?

Well, I don't think it will be hard, and I bet there will be some incentive to get people to switch into an E90. You never know.
