i just changed (http://newbimmer2.roadfly.org/bmw/forums/z3-coupe/5637646-1.html) the leather on my seats and now need to purchase some seat covers. i've heard of wet okole (http://www.wetokole.com/) but don't know how they compare to OEM (if such a thing exists for Z3 sport seats)...

obviously my main concern is what the surface that will be touching the leather is like, no necessarily the part i'm sitting on.....

thoughts?

The OEM ones are nice, especially since they are cotton (?) and breathable. I would buy both the Wets and the OEMs and do a side-by-side comparo. Post results here. Return the set you like less.

thanks...don't think i can return the wet ones, they're made-to-order (prob could get them to take them back, but wouldn't feel right about it)

p/n for sport seat covers? found these (http://64.225.94.154/ShopSite/page27.html) (scroll down), but they specify they're different....

Try Jay Lilley @ BMW of Nashville: 615 850 4022

Perhaps you saw him this past weekend at the Dinan Tent (in his AW 01 M Rdstr).

There must be some gray ones too. Daniel has a set in his car and ordered another set for me (I assume they're BMW sourced).

thanks...i'll keep that for reference. i already ordered from Pacific...they hooked it up for $64.05 ($12 shipping though :( ). There's one set in the US right now...hopefully i'll snatch it up, otherwise have to wait for them to come over from Germany.

Mine were freebies from the dealer when I bought the car, but I believe they're 82.11.1.470.431. That's where the asterisk is that I put in the 2002 Accessories catalog when I was picking freebies to ask for. Listed as anthracite. I think Max's are the same color. No idea why that doesn't jive with Ron's black ones.

I used the description from the Reference Guide for Accessories and Miscellaneous items.
This used to be part of the wholesale/retail price book.

Just a note to Nick on these...

I don't think you'd want to ride in them frequently. BMW calls them 'Easy-On/Easy-Off'. They're not uncomfortable, but they're not held on by much. There's a spandex strap with a hook in the front (goes under the seat and hooks onto hardware), and a spandex strap with a plastic quick release that goes around the back at the bottom. There's some elastic in the edge of the covers, and it's low-tension. That's it.

I use them for two things: when working in the interior for long periods, and on road trips alone where I put one on the passenger seat and strap in my M bag as a passenger. They're off the car at all other times.

duly noted, thank you. i've never seen them in person, so....

not sure how much use they'll get, but i definitely need some sort of protection from the stealer and repair shops.....

seat covers on, saran-wrapped shifter knob

They're pretty good for that purpose. They're also the right color for your car and your spiffy new seat upholstery. :)

Geeze, those look like clothes 2 sizes too big and looks like a tarp.
I ordered a set of custom fitted covers for my 00 2.3 with (my wife wanted them  ) Hawaiian fabric covers with sheepskin centers. They fit quite well but I would have preferred the Wet Okoles in some other pattern/color. My brother sent me pics of a set of wet Okoles he has in his Accord. Fit like a skin and looks very good  .
Currently my 01 3.0L -black/black interior has nothing but leather conditioner on them. Of course this may change if I am transferred to Flint, MI. Sheepskins may reappear for winter driving if the heated seats dont keep my backside warm.

In a hot climate, I've found the BMW seat vests to be good. The inside surface is a rubberized cloth that doesn't seem to hurt the napa leather.
