11 miles - 311 turns - priceless
Me and a friend (Al) w/ a Type-R Integra went on a road trip to this now famous road in the NC/TN mountains. Check out www.tailofthedragon.com.
Both cars, my 330Ci and the Type-R, perfomed to expectation. The Type-R has less HP and trq, but is also severl hundred # lighter.
We had a ball and neither one of us could pull away for the other. Imagine as fast as you can say "brake-turn-acclerate-brake-turn..." is how quick 311 turns come at you.
Al commented the next day that his hands felt as if he dad been raking the yard. We did the 22 mile round trip 6 times, and let me say that this was a lot harder on my brakes and tires than any driving school I have attended. My wheels were almost as black as my tires.
This route is very popular with the crotch-rocket crowd. On two occasions we were pacing behind the bikes and to the biker's suprise, we maintained pace and actually had to ease up on several portions of the route. The biker asked my what mods I had done to my car - and he was suprised to learn that it is bone stock - amazing.
Anyone, within 300 miles should make a day trip to experience the dragon.
