Is it just me, or did that automatic transmission sound a lot like a manual? I guess McLaren must have done a lot of work on the tranny to make it acceptable in a car like that.

The funny thing about the SLR driver's and passenger's comments was that they reminded me of this video of two very well-known BMW CCA LA instructor/racers (in fact they still occasionally post here) obviously having fun in an autocross at Irwindale. It used to be on the old LA Chapter website. Anyone still have this video?

They do. Punching it in a dead-straight line - yee-ha. But even with my duff onboard speakers that engine sounds great.

I wouldn't want to be the customer who eventually has to buy that car. It can't be theirs - no-one that moronic has that much money, surely (unless the dot-com world is alive and well wherever that video was shot?).

Just saw an SLR on the road last night. The driver was a 70+ year old white hair with a smirk on his face. :thumbup:
