Ur thoughts on the new 350Z vs the 3 series?

Got wait until it released, car mag reviews, and test drive before my final decision.

On paper, it and it's twin G35 Coupe look pretty good.

-275hp plus
-18"rims
-brembo brake package
-LSD
-6speed manual

both in the low to mid 30's.

When I sell my A4 I will have to take a look. On the japanese front the WRX STi and Evo VII should be worth checking out too.

Competition is good, it will make the germans a little bit worried. Maybe then we will see a M3 CSL or a 3.5l 3 series.

It's got the performance equipment that I require in my next car. I'll definitely be taking one for a spin. It kind of makes the 330's look a little weak in the performance department.

I actually considered waiting to purchase a 350Z when it comes out this October --> I think its October, :dunno: but decided to buy the BMW. I am a little weary of picking up a first year new model for any car.

Anyway, I really liked the way it looked, and on paper, it seemed like it would be tons of fun to drive. I will take one out for a test-drive and see how it feels. I know it will not match our BMW's fit/finish or the overall solid feel. We do have the Ultimate Driving Machine. :D

The 3.5 L will never happen as an I-6. With the design of the current engine, mainly the cylinder spacing, you can't get a displacement greater than ~3.2-3.3 L easily. This is the reason that the M3 GTR used a V-8.

IMO, the 330 doesn't need more power or a 6-sp and if you think it needs either you either haven't learned how to properly drive the car or you're falling into the typical "more is better" mentality.

I frequent a G35 Forum and many of them (only) get 16-19mpg with the 3.5 liter 260hp engine.

In the G35 Coupe (275hp) and the 350Z (280+hp) that may drop down to 15mpg.

I could care less if they are a bit quicker than me (2002 330i), I love the fact that as fast as I drive I still get 24mpg and on long trips can get nearly 30mpg...
