Finally got around to have some strut brace reach through cap nuts (14) made.
Similar to the BMW Motorsport ones but a lower profile.
Purchased the material for this project 12/08/2003.

I picked up the nuts from my black oxide place today. They get $40 minimum for the first 100 pounds. So one nut is $40 or 14 nuts is $40. The smoother the finish the better the black oxide looks. The sides of the nuts were bead blasted. I polished the top (crown) using Tripolii and a buffing wheel. They came out really nice.
My cost material, machining and black oxiding using my regular machinist came out to $12.71 per nut not counting my time.

My CNC guy quoted (material, machining and black oxide)
Quantity----Price each
---8----------$42.00
--20----------$24.00
--50----------$16.80
-100----------$14.00

If you are making strut braces I would be interested in purchasing one. ( including nuts of course ! )

Count me in. Just picked up my stock seca blue '01 MR with 27k on the clock. Drove home from SF to LA... I have reached nirvana. Only regret is that I wish I could have done it sooner. Can someone tell me if this stupid grin will go away eventually or is it permanent?
