Those actually look pretty nice. Of course I always liked those rims on the M3 too.

Wow, I just noticed that you're in Ann Arbor. I grew up in a little town called Manchester. I must admit that I don't miss those Michigan winters. Go Blue!!!

I can't wait to be back south and leave these winters behind... were's Manchester relative to Ann Arbor?

Ann Arbor is a great town... Not enough snow in the forecast for me to switch to my snow rims/tires yet though.

Does your car have the tire pressure sensors in the factory rims?
If so, did your "low tire" indicator come on?

The 'low tire' indicator hasn't come on. the stock 18s do come with the sensor for the Bridgestone run-flats.

I don't think I'll be needing my dulop winter sports as I will be moving to Florida next week. Too bad, they are great tires with only one season wear. I actually think they give a nicer (softer) ride than my all seasons and there was no difference in dry traction that I could notice.

About 20 miles southeast, surrounded by Lots of farms, out in the middle of nowhere. I hear the town is frozen in time, somewhere right around 1972. It's been a log time since I've been back there. The last time I was there (about 10 years ago) they only had 2 or 3 stop lights. The place almost reminds me of Amish country.

Ann Arbor!! Go Blue! I actually went to Wisconsin, but the red and white stands out to much around here. My location says A2, but I actually live in Ypsilanti Township (nobody wants to admit they live in Ypsi).

Anyway, I think I am just going to buy a new set of the Conti All seasons for the MI winter. I am a vehicle dynamics test engineer, so I am pretty confident I can drive the car in winter conditions with no problem. The snow usually doesn't last too long around here anyway, I am more worried about the frequent freezing rain we seem to get.

I always recommend finding used factory wheels to use in winter... But, I must admit, those wheels look great on an E46.

Interesting. Mine comes on after about 4 miles of driving on my 16" snow rims....
I wonder why not. Tirerack told me there are aftermarket transmitters available, do you think you have those in your winter rims?

I had some trouble this summer with the indicator coming on with my factory rims, dealer worked on it for 3 days to get it fixed.

Now, I put my snows on last weekend. Within 5 minutes, my low tire, ABS, brake, and DSC are all yellow...
Goes into shop later in the month to get looked at.

i'll let you know.

Thats great....

I probably won't do this unless I'm forced to, as I'm sure it will not be for free in my case.

I really don't think I'd need these pressure sensors installed in order to clear the ABS/DSC/Brake/LowPressure problem I'm having now, unless they are sending back rotation data somehow. In the past 2 years I've lived with the yellow low tire sensor during the winter months, but this issue with no DSC or ABS has me worried about electrical gremlins...

Thanks,
PMB

What made you decide to go with the wintersport M2 vs. the M3? What pressures are you running with the snows?

I have a set of type 44s with wintersport M3's for my 330i SP, but I don't want to put them on untill I absolutely have to. :)

chose the m2s since they were $89/tire with similiar perfomance to the m3s, just lower speed rating. running 32psi.

[I picked up the same set last winter, Gary from tirerack threw in the caps. The OEM caps wont fit. I think they give them to everyone who orders rims. :dunno:

I always recommend finding used factory wheels to use in winter...

Why is that?

I put on my winter shoes last weekend. 225/45/17 Dunlop Winter Sport M3 on Fox 6 Sport Edition (cheapest rims at the Tire Rack) on all four corners. 37 psi front, 38 psi rear for now, until I find some time to look up what others are running on their winter tires.
