Does your e46 have CREAKY windows? Mine is driving me nuts...like right at ear level. Even my noisy 12 year old Range Rover doesn't bother me as much (at least I can CRANK up the kickin factory stereo in the RR to mask that aero brick, wind noise, beast).

BMW tells me I have to "cut" my tinting another 1/4 inch from the window top so that they can apply their "magic formula" stuff that's suppose to maybe "help" (not fix) the creaky windows in my 2001 e46 wagon. In order to reduce, not eliminate, the front window creaking thing, I have to crack both windows to the point of adding wind noise leaking through the front windows.

If this isn't a design flaw, I don't what is. I mean, if this was a $15,000 GM product, or a 14 year old used car of any make, I could understand it... but in a modern designed BMW???

If anyone has discovered a TRUE fix for this, please post it here. I'll continue my experiments. This also could be a great aftermarket product should someone be able to develop a user installed retrofit to FIX this poorly designed window seal.

I think BMW fixed with this w/ slightly redesigned front window regulators sometime during 2000 or 2001. The window regulators will still fail sooner than they should, but the redesigned regualtors were meant to stop the squeaking. There was a TSB about this in 2000 or 2001. Hopefully your car was built before this, and its just a matter of "upgrading" to the new window regulators.

My '05 330i has a creaky sun roof if I have the shade closed. Not terribly annoying, but it is an issue that I should not have to deal with on a 3 week old car.

Look in the search section and type "noisy windows", i have posted a thread in there and it will cure the noise.

Trust me.
