OK, My Q: what is E46 and E90?

Now, I did search the boards, I did not find a specific post explaining this, but i did get a little info. and correct me if i'm wrong.... E46 is ALL 3 series models from 1999-2004? e46 is just body "style" and not an exact body? like 318's, 325CI's, 323I's, 330CI, 330i's etc etc are all E46's? and now they just came out with the e90's, and these are the 3 series with the new body style? also, isn't there a 2005 e46 330CI ZHP out, or coming out? so does this mean that there isn't going to be a 2005 e90 330CI? what are other "E" models/types/styles?

i'm sure i'm probably way off, any help is appriciated

-Adam

The E stands for Entwicklung, the German word for Development. That's because the E codes are assigned by BMW at the beginning of model development.

Oh yeah, and the 05' 330's are available. With and without ZHP ;)

I was asking wouldn't the '05 330CI be an e90 and not an e46? was that a mistake with the person typing? or maybe the e90's are '06 ?
