did you ever find out if boulder has any issues w/ your BMW ?
Sorry....ended up not going with it...so do not know.
Phone model: Nokia E71
Car model: 2005 530xi, 2007 X3
[X] ability to make/receive calls - no issues
[X] phone book automatically synches to car - Yes!
[X] dial by name (without verbal training of system)
[X] calling name display (using adddress book)
[ ] ability to send/receive SMS - Not sure
The phone works like a charm!
I've got a 2004 530 and am using the Nokia E66 which is similar to the E71 except it's a slider version with the same functions.I am able to pair the phone, make calls and receive calls but the contact list don't seem to be loading up.what could the problem be?:dunno:

I am not sure. I loaded my wife's list into the phone (phone memory, not the microSD card) and it works like a charm.

I have an 07 530i with Nav. My Phone screen on the the Idrive says localhost?? How do I change the phone screen name? I have an Iphone 3G.
Cheers
Make sure your iphone itself is named. I named mine and the name transfers to the idrive.

Motorola Tundra works!
Except does anyone know the password for the bluetooth... The pairing code or what ever you call it?
For my 2006, you pick a pass code on your phone, then verify it on your idrive.
I am not sure. I loaded my wife's list into the phone (phone memory, not the microSD card) and it works like a charm.
Could that be the reason?coz I've got mine all in the memory card.and you have the same Nokia E66?

Got a Blackberry tour. It sync'd fine, had an error downloading my address book, probably because I have email addresses attached but I can scroll through the address display and all of my address book appears to be there.
Just one problem as I posted in the Tour thread. Once the Tour sync's my Nav displays shows a continuous active call to a point where it dims the radio volume like I'm speaking on the phone. I can't dial through the car but can through my phone. Thought it my be the continuous 3G connection for the internet but the problem persists when I turn this off. Still trying to figure it out. Unfortunately, this will limit the bluetooth connections usefullness.
I have a 2009 535ix and have been having continuous problems with my Tour. Now the phone wont turn off after the call is completed and I cannot turn on the radio until I dial out another call which will then turn on the radio after I hang up. I laso cannot view my entire address book.
Anyone have any answers??

I have had pretty good luck with my Blackberry 8330. It synchs well, copies my address book, and does the dial by name well too. No problems here.

I have a 2006 BMW 1 120D Anniversary with IDrive professional.
My Nokia 6300, specially bought to work with the car and snap-in-adapter, works fine with the system but now has microphone probs and I think the phone itself is crap!
I am looking at either a HTC Touch 2 of a HTC Hero.
The HTC Touch and Touch Pro are on the BMW list of compatible phones and seem to do the most important and that is exchange of the address with IDrive. But both are older versions.
HTC Touch runs under Windows Mobile 6 Professional.
HCT Touch Pro runs under Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.
The phones I am looking at:
HTC Touch 2 runs under Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional.
HTC Hero (which is my favorite right now) runs under Android.
Does anyone know whether these phone work well with IDrive?
I called BMW and they said that the correct working of the phone is highly dependable on the OS of the phone. (e.g. Symbian phones like the Nokia N73 do not work for that reason?) So if Windows Mobile 6 and 6.1 work, does 6.5 work also?
And Android? Has anyone any info on this booming OS?
I really hope somewhere in this world is an answer, cause I want a nice phone and I NEED to phone to work properly in my car.
Thanks for any info!

P.S. the latest list of compatible phones (donwloades yesterday from BMW.nl site is attached)

I can confirm that the HTC Touch 2 works with iDrive in my 2006 E60. One caveat though, make sure you have the locking screen disabled otherwise the contact transfer won't work. If that happens to you, unlock the screen before starting the car or disable the lock alltogether so you won't have to do anything before starting the car.

Nope - as posted earlier, I have the E71 and Iphone 3GS.

Oh thanks! Good tip about the screen lock!
This should confirm my idea that windows mobile phones work?
No one an idea about Android phones?

My Verizona Blackberry Pearl 8130 works great in a 2010 535 w/ Nav.
Are you able to sort the names by first name/last name?...I posted elsewhere as well, but when I changed from my 2008 to my 2010 535 I can no longer sort by first name, even though the contacts in my Pearl are set to first name....

I have been having no issues with the bluetooth performance. I have the Verizon 8330 curve which is not on the approved list. My problem is that my radio in am or fm mode starts to sound like skipping cd. The BMW tech is telling me the system is getting overloaded and may eventually breakdown. Has anyone else had this happen? The last thing I want to do is hurt my new (preowned) car and have to pay for it!!!

Can anyone confirm that a Treo 750 (WM6) does or does not fully work in a MY10 E60? Search turns up conflicting answers, and none for MY09 or 10. Thanks.

Android works very well. Have a HTC Magic with Hero ROM and it pairs perfectly with my 08 M5.
Haven't tried an Android 1.6 or 2.0 device yet. Hopefully some Motorola Droid users will post soon.

As best I can tell the Treo 750 will make and receive calls perfectly, but the address book will not sync with the car.

The LG Xenon (GR500) from ATT works perfectly with my '08 535i. This is the first phone that I've had that has transferred the address book.

I am having the same problems that a couple of others have been having with the BB TOUR (Verizon). I also have a BB 8330 that works perfectly fine. I looked at the software installed on both and the 8330 appears to have version 4.3.x.x and the Tour has 4.7.x.x.
It is very annoying - almost unusable as the car will recognize the TOUR but upon pairing, assumes tha the TOUR is on and won't allow the radio/Sat/iPOD to work - it shuts down the speakers.... If I make a quick call then hang up, the radio et al comes back.
When I make a call and subsequently hang up, the display in the 535i shows that the phone is still on a call. I do get my entire address book in the display on the 535i, but it seems that connect and disconnect signals through Bluetooth aren't going across properly?
Anyone have any thoughts? I just got the Tour and love the phone, but the 8330 (World) isn't that far behind it in terms of features and quality - and it works on the 535i....
Are there different versions of Bluetooth that could cause this problem?
Thanks

those of u who own a BMW can afford an iphone 3GS and if ur on Verizon a Blackberry Storm 2 and if ur on T Mobile a MyTouch 3G
im pretty sure all those phones sync address books and interrupt the radio when ur listening to music and u get a phone call
my iphone 3GS syncs perfectly when im playing music on the phone with an FM transmitter and a phone call comes the music pauses.. i think.. and on the iDrive screen it says call from ... accept or reject
make life easy and upgrade ur phone

It's not a matter of what one can afford, it's personal preference. I carry my phone in my pocket and seldom, if ever, need all the features on the iphone. I prefer a phone that is more compact and lighter than the bulky do-it-all super phones. I have little need for email and web access when I am away from my home or business computer. Other than an occasional text message, my phone is used strictly for making phone calls.
