i just bought a new 2005 330ci with zhp package. anyone know if installing an aftermarket soundsystem (the deck) will affect the controls on the steering wheel?

also do any of you know if an aftermarket subwoofer can be installed to the stock soundsystem?

If you swap out the head unit you would need to buy a Pac swix module (or similar item) to maintain the steering wheel controls. If you only do amps/speakers it would not be affected.

Easiest sub add on is JL Stealthbox application, will not give you over powering boom but many have found it to be a nice improvement. You can do a basic sub/amp install with an enclosure based set up as well if you want more ooomph. Either way, you would need to add an amp for the subwoofer, the OEM amp is too weak.

It is the part that takes the commands from your steering controls and converts it to IR to control your new radio.
