When will the 5 get the next generation I6 engine that is coming in the new 3 series?

Thanks

I'd like to know as well. 225hp is simply too wimpy for a large 5.

This new engine replaces the old engine, which BMW will stop making, so yes - it will appear in the 5. But I don't know if the new engine will make *that* much difference to the performance of the 530i (and I suspect it will be quite inappropriate for the X5 3.0i and 730i). Certainly the car will not be (258bhp/231bhp =) 11.7% faster. Although championing peak horsepower at one particular crank speed seems to be the basis on which InfiniLexUra and many other Japamerican manufacturers seem to run their advertising campaigns :).

I get 20-21 mpg in town (disappointing) and as high as 33 mpg on the road (bloody awesome!) when on vacations.

As my first BMW, it has been a wonderful car. I just wish the target signs on my car could be removed...the car is in the body shop for the 4th time being fixed...all 100% the other driver's negligence. :(
