ok let me start out by saying that i DONT have the cash right now to spring for the 5-600 dollar hella angel eyes headlamp upgrade. I have 100 bucks to play with at the moment for lights. Ive seen on ebay (eg http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7935349447&category=33710 )

i would like to get those angel eyes on my car but im sure would look bad since i have stock crap lighting. see pic

So what exactly do i HAVE to do? Can i just upgrade to brighter bulbs and get those cheap rings? Or do i have to upgrade my whole headlamp setup? The stock lighting in this car SUCKS!!! My moms astro van headlamps are brighter.

Basically i want the cheapest way to upgrade my headlights.... i know since i own a bmw that i should be able to treat it to the best and most expesive parts... but this car is breaking my wallet enough as it is! i want to see some upgrades now!

It's not your stock lights that suck, it's the bulbs. I replaced my low beam and fog lights with PIAA H7's, xtreme white. It's night and day compared to the stock. In fact, I purchased a set for just my regular lights when I noticed how much duller (not even close to being as bright white) my fog lights were compared to them. The looks weren't good with my low beams having bright white and the fog lights looking dull, so I decided to buy another set of H7's for the fog lights. No regrets. They all match and shine extremely bright, just like the name - Xtreme White. I promise you that your mom's car won't be brighter after replacing with H7's. They're rated around 4700K. The only brighter alternative past this is HID's that can easily be seen. Some bulb may be 4800k or 4900k but you'll never see the difference. This is where marketing comes to play.

I also want the Angel Eyes very badly but can't swing it right now with Christmas around the corner. I am waiting since I have read by many that the rings will be a disappointment. I would recommend doing the same. For $600, you get Angel Eyes and the entire encloure with the option of getting the side reflector in clear with an amber lighting bulb that's included. The cool part besides the Angel Eyes to me is the fact that the side reflector is partial w/ the bulb being seen from the front. It gives a cool look of three bulbs with the Angel Eyes being lit. This is much better than upgrading the existing lights with the rings.

Hope this helps. Be patient and save for the entire assemblies while getting the PIAA H7's now. You can always swap the bulbs when the new Angel Eye assemblies arrive since I'll promise you that they won't have PIAA H7's included in them.

are the P39's the Halogen kits? Those look like Xenon?

On a scale of 1 - 10, 1 being replacing a taillight, where do you rate this upgrade for a Halogen equipped vehicle?

it's about a 3, and yes, they are Xenons:)
It's as hard as an oil change.

so I can upgrade my halogens to xenon's without the whole xenon kit? What about the low beam fault reading issue?
