Should I get the Racing Exhaust System for my 2005 3.0 X5? It is 9hp to the crank and 5hp to the wheel, it is going to cost me around 2500-3000 dollars. Is it wirht it, will it make a difference in th performance?

It definitely is not worht it for performance. Most people add cat-back exhausts for the sound, the power increase is usually minimal.

3 Gs for an exhaust?! I agree w/FrankTheTank: it may sound a tad better at idle or at redline, but most aftmkt claims of HP gains are under ideal conditions and generally dreamland.

Question you have to answer does a 3G set of pipes make You feel/look better? I can promise you'll see slim hp gains, but maybe the idle burble is worth it? Payback will be non-existent, but hey this is America. GL,md

Holy mother of Pearl, 3G for an exhaust??? What brand is this? A 9HP gain is dreamland for sure. Additionally, don't expect much "burble" from a 3.0 engine. If you want to change the look, get a Remus of Supersprint. Remus is bolt on, SS requires some cutting/welding I believe.

BMW does make a "race" exhaust system for the X5 3.0, I'm not sure if this is what he is referring to or not. I doubt it though, because I can't believe that BMW would publish HP gains for it.

My guess is he is referring to the Eisenmann Racing Performance versus the Eisenmann Sport Performance exhaust systems.

Could be. Still not sure where the $2.5-3G comes from???

That is a LOT to pay for an exhaust.

I agree...a full "manifold back" sys for a Vette, inc. headers, X pipe, small but legal cats., and rear pipes can be had from a half dozen aftermkt mfg'rs for 2-2500.

Putting an expensive, real free-flowing sys. on the 3.0 is like adding rear wings to one's Honda Civic, imo. Diff'Strokes, but there is no magic bullet out there. If one really had a good shop and did exhaust, intake, mapping, chip, etc., you'd wind up with 5Gs+ to make it go a half+ sec. faster and mpg would prob. be less than stock.

Maybe it's Jes'me...

My Borla Stingers on the Vette sound great/loud but the real benefits are slim to none other than ego and mentally invigorating; that cat-back sys was 500 bucks.

NEway back to watching my finger heal, slowly. :yikes:

There's a good video on X5World with a 3.0 Remus on Greg's (I believe) X...it sounds better than stock, but nothing like the 4.6 it's compared to...(no offense Greg, I was thinking of getting the exhaust as well ;) ) anyway, I'm fairly certain it wouldn't cost anywhere near $3k, unless a $tealer installed it...

That special exhaust swirl is reason enough for me to get the Remus...
