Any further details for us, Tom? :)

I sure hope it's a piece of software on the iPod. I'd hate to have to tear apart my dash again!

I've always been told that it is designed with upgrading in mind. Tom posted somewhere before that as Ice>link is supplied in multiple parts they can be upgraded.
The have an upgrade option on their website for ice>link 1.0 to 1.1
Do you think it will display on a Business CD though? Mine is the latest Sep 2004 model that plays MP3 direct from CDR but it doesn't display any text on there from the ID3 Tags

As I understand it now, ID3v2 tags will work on both the NAV screens and the business/professional CD displays.
The new ice>link Plus will not work right away but once a firmware upgrade is released in Mid December.
Got an e-mail from Tom @ DensionUSA who tells me that "the new ice>Link is now at version 2.0 completely different electronics and a processor chip are now used"
I was hoping my version 1.2 (only a month old) would be able to be flashed, but I think it will have to be returned, but I do think there will be an upgrade path in place.
Once you have Ice>link Plus (or Ice>link 2.0) you will then be able to apply any firmware updates directly from your Ipod.
I think they will release more info in December and after the Thanksgiving holidays in the states.

Pretty cool-- it would be cooler if they allowed you to navigate the playlists without using the ipod screen.

I think they are going to give you the best of both worlds. They are allowing the buttons 1-5 on the headunit to select your 1st 5 playlists automatically. Button 6 will be used to bring up the dension navigation menu on the ipod.
So you have a system similar to the BMW ipod connection but with the freedom of not locking the ipod so you still select from all your playlists.
I think it looks really good, and the new cheaper pricing is a bonus to people new to ice>link
it's certainly nice to have so many options.

dension's icelink plus looks real good, which i'm leaning towards...

I've been in the car a lot in the past 2 days, and the more I think about it, I think I will just stick with my current version.
Do I really want to dismantle my dash (radio end install) again, and pay to upgrade something I only bought in October just to move the track names about 6 inches from the ipod in a centre console cradle to the CD display?
New version does sound great but I think I would have upgraded if my ipod was out of sight.

ID3 Tags are almost completed, I'm told we should have a working fix for the ice>Link Plus by Xmas. As for the Standard ice>Link, we will have an upgrade program in effect shortly.
The only item that will need to be replaced for the Std. ice>Link is the module itself, the wiring will remain unchanged.

Tom,
Great news about IceLink Plus before Christmas! I am very interested...I have a couple of questions. I too would like to have the ID working before purchasing, however, "the wife" is asking me what I would like for Christmas ... Of course, your product is at the top of the list!
1. Should I wait to purchase when the final is released or can a unit purchased now be upgraded/ flashed to include the ID tags?
2. Are you confident about pre-Christmas availablilty, if so, any dates yet? Even if the units are not ready until the 22nd / 23rd, you could send my unit overnight? Correct?
The timing could not be better for the release, huh? From what I'm reading here the interest seems obivious. I'm sure everyone at Dension is excited about the final release...especially the banker, huh? :) Congratulations!
Please put me at the top of the list ... Santa's knows I've been nice this year! :)

Banker nothing - I want one for my 540i! :D
The unit can be purchased now, the firmware update will be released when available on our website for download onto your iPod. You can then use the iPod to "program" the ice>Link to enable ID3v2 Tag support.
In the meantime, you have a few weeks to get familiar with the ice>Link Plus until ID3v2 support is released. I've had it in my car for the holiday weekend, and I'm still getting used to it.

Tom:
Does Icelink Plus play nice with the XM Direct kit for XM Radio? (It's the hidden-install kit that adds XM Radio to satellite-ready cars, and uses the factory or aftermarket head unit to show channel/artist/song info. There's an official BMW adapter kit available for the unit.)
My ultimate goal would be to have in-dash CD, AM/FM, iPod and XM radio, using the factory head unit for a display and steering wheel buttons for controls. IOW, a virtually invisible multi-source entertainment system on wheels. Is this doable with Icelink and XM Direct?

FWIW, from XM Direct: (http://www.myradiostore.us/bundles/car/xm-direct-receiver-bmw-mini-cooper.html)
Your vehicle MUST have a 3 and 6 pin connector (normally used by a factory CD chnager) to plug in this unit.
Please choose your version. XM-RVR-D-100 is for vehicles WITHOUT a CD changer, while the XM-RVR-D-101 allows for a factory CD Changer to remain fully functional, or allows you to use another Blitzsafe adapter for additional auxilary input.

It looks like the 2 systems are not going to get along unless a custom switch was fabricated - both systems use the 3 and 6 pin connectors needed for the iBUS.

What about using the XM-RVR-D-101, which allows for a factory CD Changer to remain fully functional with the XMDirect? Should be a similar configuration as the OEM Sirius with the jumper wiring for an extra OEM CD Changer connected in tandem with the Sirius tuner. In both cases, it is not an OEM CD Changer being connected to the 3- and 6- pin but the ice>Link... and if this version of the XMDirect can coexist with an OEM CD Changer, and the OEM Sirius Tuner can coexist with an ice>Link replicating the OEM CD Changer, therefore a XMDirect should coexist with an ice>Link as the CD Changer... would you think? :dunno:
The switcher between XM and ice>Link would be the XM-RVR-D-101.
With the new id-tags on the bmw displays, and the playlist selection via 1-6 cd keys, what are the remaining reasons for having the ipod mounted in a visible/accessible position?
I've been hoping for a solution that would allow me to mount the ipod in the glovebox, or other inconspicuous location.
On a related note, would the Dension IceLink dock work well if I mounted it sideways in the glovebox, up against the left interior wall? Would the dock hold the ipod well in that orientation, or does it rely somewhat on gravity to help hold the ipod in?
I am also eagerly awaiting some pics of what this will look like on the BMW NAV display.
thanks!

I've done some reading and looked through the icelink website, but I'm not positive which info is correct for me. I have a 2001 330i with the Business CD and HK premium sound option. My iPod is a 60gb iPod photo. My questions are whether or not I need the $69 part because I have the HK stereo upgrade, and whether or not my head unit display and steering wheel cotrols are compatible with the icelink/iPod. Also, would you have the install done at a stereo shop or the dealership? TIA

Meaning you have seen at least one? I know 99% of people confuse HK and DSP (they are not related). I thought DSP was never, ever available on any E36 or E46, but HK certainly was.
3 more questions....
Will the tag info show up on a Z3 MID (2000 Z3 2.3 with in-dash CD)?
Will the tag info show up on an E36 318is MID (1997 318is with in-dash cassette)?
Will any of this work with an early Ipod (no dock connector)?

I have personally worked with 5 people with the DSP in the e46 - not sure if it was a dealer-installed option or it was offered from the factory.
As for your questions:
Yes, it will show up on the screen on the Z3, as long as you have Business CD. As for your e36 318, your radio is not compatible for ID3v2 display.
The biggest problem is the Classic iPod - the Classic OS is not capable of taking advantage of the new ice>Link Plus features. You will have to upgrade the iPod in order to get the ice>Link Plus features. The older ice>Link features will still work though if you decide to keep the Classic.

It should be pretty easy to install, especially if you get the kit that installs the adapter right at the radio rather than in the trunk.
If you still don't want to try it yourself, I believe Dension is just down in Long Beach and they might be able to install it for you. I'm sure Tom will be able to provide details if this is possible.

Can we order through you (and get a bimmerfest discount :D ) or should we go through the site?
I was going to get the Apple version for my bro-in-law for Xmas but I like the Dension version more (ideally he will too).
Thanks,

You can order through me directly or through the website - it's your choice. I don't have any additional discounts planned soon, but the price was dropped $20 from the old ice>Link.

This looks great. I'm sort of leaning towards the Dension, except for one thing. There's no way that I'm competent/comfortable tearing apart my dash to put this in. Are there any installers in the Phila area that I can trust to do it right? If not, I may be stuck with the Apple/BMW solution.
Also, the Dension site is down and has been since yesterday at least. Anyone know what this thing costs?

Any word on the ID3v2 tag support for non-NAV E46?

I have a non-Nav 2003 BMW 325XiT Touring (wagon) with a BMW CD Changer and both a 20gb "Classic" & a current 40gb iPod.
I would like some more information on iceLink:iPod. Will the CD Changer be completely out of the system? Is iceLink:iPod compatable with the BMW Sirius satelite radio system (once BMW decides to release the install kit for the Tourings)?
What is the difference in controls between the kits for the "Classic" & the current iPods? How about the difference in controls when hookiing up to the aux input of the head unit & when hooking up to the CD Changer connection at the back of the vehicle?
I have a storage compartment in my center console (where the cup holder usually is), which is where I would put the iPod if I were to hook it up to my vehicle's audio system.
Thanks for any information.

With the ice>Link Plus installed - the CD changer is obsolete. Also, the Classic iPod will not take advantage of the extra features fond in the ice>Link Plus - the Classic's OS is not capable. I would highly recommend upgrading the iPod to one of the newer 3G/4G units.
We do not use the AUX connector - that is only good for an audio-in feed. No CD changer controls are transmitted through AUX. The ice>Link Plus is different by emulating a CD Changer.
If you opt for the Trunk interface (where the interface is picked up from) you will have about 15-18 feet of cable to place the iPod anywhere in the vehicle - it's entirely up to you!

Tom,
Thanks for the reply. Sorry it took so long, but I've been busy & haven't had a chance to reply.
I understand that there is less control if I use my Classic iPod instead of my new 4G iPod, but I am looking for a use for my old Classic iPod. I am would be concerned about my new 4G iPod being stolen if the car was broken into. I've already had the driver's door lock tumbler popped out & sheetmetal damage from the driver's door handle pushed in while they popped the tumbler out ($700 damage).
If I understand the set up from your web site, there are adapters on the end of the ice>Link Plus that allows quick changing from one type of iPod to another, correct? If so, how much are they? That way maybe I could normally keep the Classic in the car, and quickly change to the 4G iPod for longer trips.
These questions are for both when using the Classic iPod & the 4G iPod:
Is ice>Link Plus compatable with the BMW Sirius radio system?
Does the ice>Link Plus also provide power for recharging the iPod?
Do you have to turn on/turn off the iPod separately, or that controlled by the ice>Link Plus?

* The ice>Link Plus is fully compatible with Sirius Radio [OEM BMW models]
* The ice>Link Plus will provide full charging of the iPod. Being that your iPod is a Classic model - the batteries are probably on their way out anyway.
* The iPod will receive a "kill" command when you turn off the ignition and/or change sources [AM/FM/CD] and resume when back in CD Changer mode.

Having issues with IceLink Plus. Just installed it today (running Becker Traffic Pro), and keep getting "ok to disconnect" message on my Ipod. It starts playing fine, but it gets disconnected a few seconds later, and I can't run any upgrades from your site. Ipod is 3G, and running 2.2 version software (the latest one). Everything is definitely properly connected.

Are you emailing Dension.com? You need to email Tom@densionusa.com. DensionUSA is their state side offices and where Tom works.
The only reason I ask is because your posted email responses appear to be from Dension NOT DensionUSA. Could be the reason?
As far as phone calls going unanswered... I'm confused too. Other than the DensionUSA offices are small and most everyone is attending some type of show? You would think there would be a message stating so OR they've forwarded phones to their main overseas offices...highly unlikely. Just speculation here. Please let us know the outcome.

Swell. I guess I can write off the ice>Link. I've read about too many problems. Most distressing is the lack of support.
I guess there's still Monster's iCruze. I really haven't heard too much about it yet, as I don't believe it's available at this point. At least Monster Cable is a real company!
http://www.monstercable.com/iCruze/default.asp
But it's not perfect either. Track names and artists won't be displayed on the HU, but instead on an optional $200 external display. Ugh. Plus, it's pretty expensive.
Apple announced all kinds of new connectivity kits at the recent MacWorld, but who knows when those will be available, and it sounds like BMW's is staying as it currently is (which sucks).
When will there be a real & reliable iPod/BMW solution?!

There's talk of a "next-generation" BMW iPod adapter. It's anyone's guess as to when it will be available and for what cars (probably no E46 support, seeing as how it's an outgoing model).

When my Ice>Link 1.1 ceased to function, I decided to upgrade to the Ice>Link Plus. I received the kit last week (after many many shipping snafus at Dension) and was able to install it very quickly (only the soundgate box, the icelink and the cradle had to be replaced - thankfully the carefully routed cable to the trunk did not have to be replaced!) Following are my thoughts after using the Ice>Link Plus for a weekend:
1) The new unit is VERY noisy. The Ice>Link plus seems to pick up all types of noise including alternator whine. There was noise with the 1.1 but I usually only noticed it when playing classical music, etc. However, with the new version the noise is audible with all music. I have even tried to vary the output from 4V down to .5V, all to no avail. Additionally, I believe that the overall sound quality is degraded with the new Ice>Link, the music just doesn't sound "right." This does not sound like a digital device and definitely not like the BMW CD changer :(
2) The Dension UI is more painful than it is beneficial. The idea behind the UI is cool and it does look neat, but it is very slow to maneuver through the menus. Apple got it right with the Ipod - a quick touch sensitive wheel and a few buttons. With the 1.1, I was easily able to select music using the Ipod controls, even while in traffic. Unfortunately, the Dension UI disables the controls on the Ipod and you are required to use the radio buttons to move through the UI. It's funny that the new Dension interface says don't browse your Ipod while driving, and I think that is because if you try and use the Dension UI while driving, you are almost sure to run into a tree, mailbox, [insert inanimate (or even animate) object here, etc. Each push of the radio button requires about a second for the IceLink Plus to process before it updates the UI. In order to move to submenus, it is required to hold down the > radio button (if you have nav and don't have a >| button) and sometimes the IceLink does not process this signal appropriately and sends just a >, thereby navigating down the current menu (as opposed to going to a submenu). Also, the Dension UI is very tiny - so it is difficult to read as compared to the standard Ipod UI - a problem that is compounded while driving. I have resorted to turning off the new Dension UI and just using the old school Ipod interface :(
3) The hype with the new IceLink (as I understand it) is the ability to output ID3 to the headunit, NAV, etc. Well, I believe that this functionality is overrated, at least with the NAV system. For some reason I figured that the ID3 info would scroll across the NAV screen, similar to the Ipod screen. This is actually not the case, rather the IceLink just outputs as much text as it can fit. Many artist and song titles show up cropped. Additionally, the IceLink seems to vary the font used to output. Sometimes the text shows up in a small font (and long titles are still cropped), other times the text is a very large font, where the output is DEFINITELY cropped. With a bit of interpretation you can figure out what is playing, but this feature is just not what I expected. Additionally, once a new song starts to play, it takes about two to three seconds before the song title is updated on the NAV screen.
Furthermore, with the NAV system, the ID3 output is actually an annoying hindrance. During a trip this weekend, it took me a minute to figure out why the NAV map kept disappearing. After a short while, I realized that each time the IceLink updates the ID3 information, it turns the map portion of the GPS off. I attempted to check the settings of the BMW NAV system to try and turn this off, but each time I entered the menu, the ID3 would update and kick me out of the setup. Ultimately, I had to take the Ipod out of the cradle in order to mess around with the NAV settings (and I realized that there was no way to make the map "sticky.") I made the assumption that the ID3 output would be near the lat/long output and not remove the map functionality. Similar to the Dension UI, I have now disabled the ID3 output so that I can use the GPS map feature.
So, I am now left with an IceLink Plus with all the features turned off - which is basically a very noisy IceLink 1.1. Hopefully this long review didn't bore anybody - and perhaps others have experienced the same and can provide me with pointers to fix some of these issues. Since I have also found it very difficult to obtain support from Dension, and Tom frequents this forum, I welcome any assistance from the company as well. This is potentially cool technology, perhaps some additional bugs just have to be worked out.
Thanks for listening!

Soulcage,
please email me offline @ tom@densionusa.com w/ your vehicle details so that I can look further into your problem. I would like to send you a new ice>Link module - it could be a faulty circuit board.
The speed of the controls are pretty fast when used in my MY1997 540i w/ DSP - what type of iPod are you using?
As far as scrolling text goes - it is curently being tested in v2.05 firmware here in-house and should be vailable soon for download.
Looking forward to your response.

Just like to say that I'm extremely impressed with the customer service shown here on the board by Tom at Dension.
I just got an iPod and am looking for a way to connect it to my BMW. I'm anal about researching products. After looking around, I feel confident about going with ice>Link's combo of evolving features and service.
Just my 2 cents.

Tom,
Welcome back. Got your email ... Thank you too.
I'm having increasing noise (engine whine) too. What's odd is that in earlier firmware versions I didn't experience the noise as pronounced as I am now...although it was present. (Please see my email from last week)
First, I am going to check my ground for better contact and make sure my + and - are as far apart as possible. I really don't like the Radio Shack recommendation I saw you reference on another forum. If all else fails I will consider it.
A couple of questions
1. Did you get my email stating this concern
2. Should 2.05 fix the issue?
Thanks,

Jim -
I find it interesting that you are also experiencing alternator whine. Support at Dension swears that they have done many BMW vehicles and none have electrical noise. As I mentioned in my first post, I did experience noise with the 1.1, but nowhere near as bad as it is now. Anybody else experiencing this problem??

Although I doubt it, do I have to run a cable to the back of the vehicle when using the radio version? Is anything lost by placing the ipod in the glove box? Are the instructions specific about where to access power for the unit? Thanks for any help!

Any news on support of the ICELink Plus features for the Mini Cooper? By talking to the DensionUSA staff via phone, I've gotten a few conflicting answers including
1) No, it will not be supported,
2) We're working on it and should have it soon, and
3) Its not a high priority but when we fix some issues with other interfaces that may help the mini interface.

If you have NAV, you have to use the Trunk version and run a cable (included) to being the iPod to the cabin area. All power is accessed through your factory connections - no seperate leads are needed.
Instructions are also included w/ the ice>Link Plus and support is available on email, phones or here on the forums.

We are working on a having ID3v2 text in the mini, but I do not have an ETA as of yet. It seems ID#v2 text is only available on the MY2005 Minis, we may have another way of displaying ID3v2 text - we will know more in the near future and report as soon as more information is given.

I am so perplexed by all these posts. I have ordered the product but billing/shipping is on hold pending a part's arrival. I am not sure if it will really work with my 4G iPod and 2005 330xi (no navigation). The Dension site has the unpleasant words in the support section:
The current FW 2.03 is not to be used with BMW vehicles.
Tom, or anyone else, can you help explain the status of the icelink and it's firmware for new bmw's?

Guys, Tom-
I am close to pulling the trigger and order the icelink for my 2001 330ci and 4G iPod. The car has no navigation and came with the Business CD head unit. The reports of noise and issues of connectivity I see here are of concern. Is this new firmware that will ship with new product solving the issues? Or is the issue related to the configuration with some of the newer cars or Icelink Plus only? Sorry if this has been answered before.

Nelsun,
Few vehicles see a noise issue, since we are using factory BMW connections for power and signal. All units are shipping w/ v2.05 firmware, which is very stable - 99% of the bugs have been worked out since v2.01.
If technical suport is needed - it is only a phone call or email away.

Tom - not sure if I'm using the unit wrongly, but I've set my RND button to use AlbumPlay, and when I use it, it works fine apart from when the song track is part of a Greatest Hits compilation. It seems like the ICE>Link only scans for albums with the same title and not also the artist, so when this feature is used it is luck of the draw whether I get the album I want. Is this how you understand it, and if so can I suggest a slight feature change for the future to make this work better? In the meantime, I need to retag the Greatest Hits album name to also have a unique identifier for the artist.

On a separate point, I have my charge setting to Off so that I minimise charge cycles on the iPod. Does using the iPod with icelink plus incur a higher power usage than headphones alone?
I accidentally used up all my battery charge with this setting and found myself unable to use the ipod for the rest of the trip. I had a scary moment when on recharging, the module did not recognise the iPod and vice-versa (had no Dension screen on the iPod, only showed ICElink PL / *iPod* on the MID, buttons didn't work). A random switching of ignition and undock/redock sorted it out.
It's a shame icelink can't do an emergency charge in these situations (e.g. have a "charge when empty" setting) thus allowing the battery to be discharged instead of having 5-10% top-ups each time.

Why do you do this? The iPod battery is actually designed so that it will last longer if topped off continaully rather than completely draining it/recharging it.

True to a point, this is from Apple's website:
Use iPod Regularly
For proper maintenance of a lithium-based battery, its important to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally. Be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month. If you use your iPod infrequently (gasp), you might want to add a reminder to your calendar program.

Thought I would chime in with my thoughts on the IceLinkPlus...
First, I have been very happily using my regular IceLink in my 2002 325i for the past 6 or 7 months. I found almost no problems with it. As for my install, it took some time, but I was happy with the result. I used the trunk connection, and routed the wire into the main cabin, under the back seats, under the carpet and into the arm rest area. I then replaced my cupholders with the euro tray, and have they IceLink wire in there. I opted for the dock connection wire, rather than the cradle. Makes for a real sleek install, with no wires or anything visible. Also, the iPod is nicely tucked away in the euro tray, but I left enough slack on the wire to pull it out to assist with browsing and such. Sorry, I never took any pictures of the install. I got the euro tray from Circle BMW. They were the ceapest aroudn. Also, I was concerned with losing my cupholders, so I bought one of these: http://www.ultimatecupholders.com/ (http://www.ultimatecupholders.com) It works well, and the price was good.
So, when I heard about the IceLink Plus, I contacted Tom at Dension to inquire about an upgrade. I believe that the upgrade was $120 or $130, which I paid, but think is a little steep. I'd already paid over $200 for my original IceLink, so I thought that an upgrade only 6 months later should have been cheaper, especially since it was only a few replacement parts. Maybe they could have done it cheaper if they required you to return your old parts for resale or something. Oh well. Also, it took a few weeks to get the new one, as I guess they were backordered.
As for the install of the hardware for the IceLink Plus, it was just a matter of swapping out the old parts and replacing them with the new. I had to disassemble my trunk, again, and then just pull out the euro tray in the cabin, under which I stashed the IceLink module. It really didn't take too long at all, since I didn't have to re-run the wires through the trunk and cabin or anything like that.
My IceLink Plus came flashed with software version 2.05, so I didn't need to install any software on it. I was a bit confused by this, as the instructions tell you how to update for the lastest software. A quick phone call or three to Dension and I figured it all out. Also, I had them send me the software for the ID3 tags, which I later installed on the iPod.
A couple of thoughts on the new IceLinkPlus user interface:
1) I'm not crazy about it. I don't really think that this added anything to my IceLink experience. If anything, I wish it didn't have this interface.
2) One of the best features of the IceLink was that the user still had control of all the ipod functions, unlike other kits, such as the one from BMW. This has changed somewhat with the IceLink Plus. Now, it automatically defaults to the IceLink user interface, rendering the iPod controls useless. It does give you an option to switch to the iPod user interface, but you must enter the IceLink menu, select that option, disconnect the IceLink and then reconnect it to the iPod. Seems like a rediculous hassle. Perhaps it would be better if there was a menu option for setting the default, either IceLink user interface or iPod user interface.
3) I will have to play with it more, but it also seemed to be a little slow on recognizing the commands from the head unit. Not sure anything can be done about this.
The main reason I wanted to upgrade to the Plus was to get the ID3 tags on my headunit. This feature is awesome. As it is still in the beta phase, it's not perfect, but sure enough, the artist and track name scroll on the head unit. Real cool. Very happy about this addition. Worth $130? Probably not, but definitely worth something.
I have a few suggestions for future updates. First, in the Playlist browser in the new IceLink UI, it would be cool if the playlist title showed on the headunit as you were browsing. It would also be helpful to show this playlist title when selecting a playlist using the headunit buttons. I would really like to see some advancements in the IceLink UI. This is the one flaw with the product now. Also, anything that could be done to improve and expand the use of the ID3 tags would be great.
Thanks for reading, and I welcome some comments back in this forum.

Tom,
In one of your previous posts, you mentioned that the Ice Link Plus issue with displaying the IDv2 tags on the radio and dashboard display would be resolved by late Dec 2004. Can you provide us with a status update? I have a 2003 530i and would LOVE to proceed with the Ice Link Plus once this has been settled.
Lastly, if it has been settled, can we expect the tag information (artist and song title) to scroll across the display if the artist/song title does NOT fit fully fit into the display? Or, will we have to accept the maximum character display as was displayed in the video you shared with us displaying the IDv2 tags displayed on the radio/dashboard?
Please advise! Thanks!

Kool! Now wonder how they will update the prior models.
Dont know if someone else has posted pics of this yet, but I noticed a few request for pics of IceLink Plus with the NAV. I just installed mine last night and I took a quick shot.
So far no major problems (with the exception of some noise and bugs).
UPDATE: I did just have a strange thing occur while I was driving (first time this has happened, so I hope this was an isolated case). Out of nowhere, driving down the road, not touching anything related to the radio, listening to the iPod, the mode changed to the FM stereo all by itself. I tried to switch back to the icelink, but it would not switch back. Ended up having to turn the radio off, waiting a minute, then turning it back on to get things working again.
Anyone else had this happen yet?

no need for updated software for the nav screen?
Does it just display Artist, then Songtitle one at a time?
Or does it scroll the artist and songtitle?
No need for the updated software, it will simply scroll the artist and song title across the screen. The files are in beta right now, but we have been sending to ice>Link Plus users who request them in the meantime.

Anyone, probably a silly question, but do you install all six files in Tom's link to the ID3v2 config files. I have a HK sound system with Business CD.

Just getting ready to install the ice>link radio interface kit and discovered I didn't receive the Active Cradle or the mounting screws/20G iPod spacer/Base. Anyone else experienced missing parts in their order?

Did you order the kit w/ the Docking cable instead? PM me your full name and order number and I will look up your order to verify.

I just installed IceLink Plus in my 99 M Coupe (Z3). I have the factory Business CD player, and am using software 2.05. Everything works great with two exceptions:
1) I do not get any text on the display, only CD 2-03, etc. From the posts above I expect to get text display on this radio.
2) My iPod does not automatically shut off when I turn off the car, it just keeps playing...
Has anyone else had these problems? Maybe I missed something in the setup...
thanks!!!

I just did the 2.B1 update from Dension and followed the instructions to the letter (well, I didn't the first time but after much hand ringing I did :) ) and I have ID3 tags!! Pardon the picture quality...my photography skills leave a lot to be desired...
Things I found useful:
1) Download the "Nothing Text.mp3" file to get your menu back if you pick something wrong and lose your UI
2) On the Business CD when it says, "Select Disc #" DOUBLE PRESS IT QUICKLY to get the Accept message.
Not double clicking it will put you in an endless loop.
I have a MY2001 330Ci with Business CD.
Hope my efforts help someone :D.
James.

Time goes by... pages fall of the calendar....
Any word on this? My 2006 330i with Idrive/nav really wants to talk to my Ipod.

I've got a 2002 E46 with the standard CD/Radio and HK. I upgraded the radio to a 2004 so I could use the OEM Sirius. I've installed the BT/ULF module.
I went to your website to inquire about which part to use and when I used the online tools, it gave me a part and then the rather cryptic "XM Radio Will be disabled".
Well, I dont have XM, I have Sirius, and that would defeat the purpose to have Sirius disabled. I'm guessing this is a mistake? What should I order?

Hi all, I was thinking about getting the ice link for 2003 325i. l just got finished reading a post about electrical problems that the ice-link caused. Is this common for others out there? Also what ice-link would I get, if I get one, I noticed the denison website has two options an ice-link plus and a DICE iPod Integration unit.
Is there a way to install where the ipod is hidden in the armrest or something? I hate the look of that big ugly cradle mounted to the dash. Where can I find install directions?
Thanks!

Feel free to email me directly, I can get you instructions for installation before ordering. Our kits also come with a docking cable rather than a cradle so the iPod can be hidden away safely.
For those who want the Active Cradle, this can be exchanged upon request before ordering.
