Any big changes on the 2005? I'm gonna get one of these puppies and wasn't sure if I should hold out for the 2005 or if I should let the sales guy put me into a 2004. The 2005's haven't arrived yet, so I'd have a wait, but that's OK. I was just curious if anyone knew about any changes.

The 2005 X3 3.0i is cheaper than the 2004 (no cost auto transmission, cheaper premium package, etc), with no significant changes. No reason to look at a 2004 3.0 unless the dealer will match the price on a new 2005.

moonroof and auto transmission are standard in 2005 model, thus lowering the price (compared to a 2004) by quite a bit.

2005 also comes with Bluetooth
2005 has a few interior cosmetic upgrades...

Go for the 2005 if you are purchasing but you may be able to get a better lease deal on the 2004

Thanks. I am purchasing, not leasing. The only thing that would convince me to get the 2004 is an excellent price point. They do have one on the lot that is pretty close to how I would build it, but not quite. What sorts of cosmetic changes to the 2005 premium package? Thanks in advance.

Take the price you got on the 2004 and then price out the 2005 with the same options and you'll know if you are getting a deal. They would have to go 3k below invoice (~7k under msrp) for me to consider the 2004.

You'll have to search the forum for the changes.

I decided on the 2005. When you actually price out all the options - especially the premium package - it costs less than the 2004. Also, the transmission in the 2004 was an added on cost, whereas it was included in the price of the 2005. After the research, it was pretty much a no-brainer.

I was in the same predicament but opted for the 2004 2.5 only because they were offering 1.9% which made a big dif. Are they offering 1.9% already on the 05s?

I didn't ask. I'm paying cash.

I picked up my 05 on ED back in October, and the changes from my 04 are:

- the interior dash is black instead of gray
- the flashlight actually comes with it
- the first-aid kit actually comes with it
- the moonroof is included
- the automatic is included
- the interior trim is matched instead of the standard black plastic (like doorpulls, etc)

If you don't like auto or moonroofs the 04 is still cheaper, but if you were getting both anyway the 05 will be cheaper. Since I went from a PP to an SP there might be PP-PP or SP-SP changes that I wouldn't have noticed. One thing, the 05 SP suspension feels a little more comfortable than the 04 SP I tested. :dunno:
