I have been considering the following offer but think the dealer installed options are too high:
2005 X3 3.0
with auto, premium, servo, sat prep is 37295.00 Trailer hitch 720 , aux input 150, sirius 600, garage opener/mirror 500 for a total of 1970 added to that invoice for a total of 3926500. The only way I can do this is this. 40740.00 with mats out the door with these options.

I asked the dealer to delete the dealer installed options. Not sure he will agree.

Any thoughts on how I can get dealer options without the high costs? Which ones are easy DIY and which are worth having the dealer install?

Build a vehicle the way you want it on bmwusa.com and order it as such. Don't accept any dealer add-ons you don't want. You should negotiate from invoice up.

You can also consider European Delivery to save you additional money. Research heavily before you move forward with this option.

Does the dealer have a lot full of new 2004's? My dealership didn't have any 2005's on the lot yet and had a bunch of 2004's they wanted to move when I went shopping for my 2005 X3 last week. A dealership's current inventory will determine how much they are willing to negotiate. Late next month is a good time to buy, too. They want to move as many vehicles they can before the new year. Get exactly what you want - you'll be much happier.

Sounds about what you should pay for a 2005. I spoke with several dealers and most would negotiate down to $1500 above invoice.

Thanks. I don't think I'll get the price much better. May opt to add upgraded radio with DSP since I'm getting sat. radio. Not sure if sound quality is noticeble so I may have to head back to dealership to make determination on this. Mirror may be deleted since I can't find knowledgeable dealer to explain how you can get homelink & compass. May have buy the mirror after the car and put compass/homelink mirror on myself.

Read the links about mirror but dealers all claim you must choose homelink or compass, not both. Any recommendtions on radio quality or mirror?
