This thread is imbedded in too many layers of topics and subtopics. Unless someone purposely surfs here this thread is not going to get the recognition it needs. We could advertise the get together in "Off Topic" until it gets removed by the moderator. The other option is to create a pointer for Txns to come here. :D

That should reach all who previously had shown interest in showing up then. Some of them had to pass up because of prior commitments, hopefully this time we can get better participation.:)

Where :dunno: After a date is selected we will then select a location somewhere in the Greater Houston area. For the first one we met at a local restaurant. Here (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64451&highlight=SE+TX)and here (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68365) you can read about that get together.

Just want to bring up that Feb 6th is super bowl, not that it matters.
OK, I voted for all dates, but most people will do that until something else comes up. Dates too far into the future are not accurate for head count. Is there a way to "withdraw" dates?

I've had a little setback. November 30th, on my bike going to join up with my regular nightly ride, I was hit by a car and broke my right leg. I had surgery last Thursday to put a titanium rod through the tibia, two minor breaks in the smaller bone will heal on their own. I am looking at two-four months of rehab to be back on my feet and driving again. I had a friend come over and take me out for a ride in my M3 yesterday, I had to hear the engine to keep me going. I would love to come to a get-together though, be it on crutches or wheelchair. I can't come on the Jan 8-9, 15-16 weekends or on the February 5-6 due to known committments, but would try to make it on others.

Now that we are starting to get past the holidays we can start focusing on setting a date. NBaker and PostOak have PM'd me saying that they would also be interesting in attending and are pretty much open for any date.
We can all hope we can get some much deserved nice weather when we schedule BF SE TX II. :) One suggestion I would like to throw out is the possibility of having a cook out at one of the local parks (Memorial Park, Bear Creek, etc.) :dunno:

I like the idea. It allows everyone to circulate to find interesting conversations. Sitting at the dining table at a restaurant just doesn't allow one to do that. We could chip in a few bucks for the drinks, chips, charcoal, etc. Everyone can bring his favorite meat for BBQ.

drmwvr has suggested that we might able to get together at a place his family has in the country west of Houston. He will be checking dates it might be available and hopefully coincides with dates when most people might be able to attend. By early next week he should be able to provide availability.
Let's just hope that whatever Saturday gets chosens has as nice a weather as today. :) I am not personally vouching for today's weather, just going by what Channel 2 is saying. I am 4,000 miles S-SE of Houston enjoying the Southern Hemisphere Summer in Lima, Peru. :D

I guess its time to start firming up some dates. Here are some options to consider.
January 15 appears to be the most popular date. On this date we would have to meet at in town location.
January 29 is in the next tier of popular dates. On this date, drmwvr would be able to make his place west of Houston available as a site for us to meet.
February 12 is also in the second tier of dates. On this date we would have to meet at in town location. Keep in mind that this is the Saturday before Valentine's Day.
Feel free to make any comments or provide any suggestions.

Unfortunately the poll does not tell the entire story. I have had to keep a second set of books of who can come when because many people did not vote in the poll, in some cases they PM'd me. That list for the 15th currently has TLudwig, postoak, drmwvr, nbaker, Ajax, mng plus those in the poll: Dave330i, Alamo, anyone, HurstTX, Tex, and myself. Tonight I have called and PM'd people to try to get them to reconfirm.
I assume you are still available for next Saturday. :dunno:
Luis,
Just got your PM - sorry, but i'm gonna be another vote for Feb. I could make it this wkend, it would just be less convenient for me (so if i'm a swing vote, i can do this wkend and will most likely be there).
I'm trying to finish working on a property so i can get it on the market ASAP (and wkends are my only time to get a lot done). By feb, i'll definitely be done.
Long story short, either way - but i'd prefer Feb. :)

There is change in the count from the previous posting. I had been planning to attend a (High Speed) Driver's Ed (http://www.lsrpca.com/DE/DE.html) course at Texas World Speedway. Unfortunately drmwvr has informed me that he will not be able to attend next Saturday because of plans that will take him away from Houston, so he will not be able to offer his place as site for us to get together. So we need to come with an alternate location. Having a cookout at a local park appeared to have some appeal. It looks like we will have people coming in NW Houston,Midtown Houston, Sugarland, Clear Lake, and Bryan/College Station (2). A central location location like Memorial Park (http://www.ci.houston.tx.us/abouthouston/exploringmemorial.html) would be a good venue for everybody. Other parks that we could consider are Bear Creek Park (http://www.pct3.hctx.net/PBearCreek/) and George Bush Park (http://www.pct3.hctx.net/PGeorge/), both located in far west Houston/Harris County. Any suggestions are welcomed.
The forecast for next Saturday is 30% rain with a high of 68. We all know how the weather can be around here, it can be a lot better than that forecast or a lot worse. We probably also need to go ahead and come up with a restaurant as an alternate location.

There will be at least one lady in attendance for sure: anyone, who will be driving down from College Station.

That is a great location considering I will be in Clear lake. I'm the only lady?

My place is not a problem if everyone agrees. There are plenty of parking and the plumbing to the johns work. How about suggesting something to do besides drinking beer and eating? Bring your favorite wax and we can have a wax comparison test? We could vote on which one is easy to apply and take off, and which one has the best initial shine? Some of us could be surprised. Another would be bring your portable GPS to show it off? I could set them up inside the van and drive around the neighborhood to compare their accuracy and voice prompting directions. For the ladies who are not interested in these nerdy ideas, you can bring your favorite car interior deoderizers for demonstration.

Unfortunately BF has an extremely lopsided male participation. I think you may be the only female Texan B'Fester. :)

The Houston CCA has a "local happening" forum. I will post an announcement there once I have established my username, Dave 330i.

I'll be just down the street in Friendswood, but have made plans to attend the Auto Show that day.
What time is this get together happening? I might be able to stop by if its later in the afternoon.

The date of Jan 29 is firm since it was determined that is when most people would be attending. As for the time I will leave up to you, though I will be glad to come over early to help set up and can help with the clean up too, not that you are expecting messy people to show up. :D

I have spoken with Dave330i to work out some of the details for Saturday. He will be expecting us around 3:30 PM for a back yard cook out. We will go ahead and get some chips and dip for everybody to enjoy. It had been mentioned that maybe beer would be available but after thinking about it would be hard to please everybody's beer taste or you may not even care for it. Since it would be unfair to ask for everybody to chip in for that, so it is going to be BYOB.
So for Saturday if everybody will bring whatever they want to grill, a dish (salad, side dish, dessert) they would like to share, and something to drink then we will be set. Plates, utensil, glasses, etc. will be provided.
Dave330i lives in a new subdivision that is yet to be mapped. Please PM me with your e-mail address so that I can provide you with the correct directions and contact phone numbers in case if you need help getting there.
Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday.

Thanks, LDV330i for coordinating the SE TX get together. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone, and some of you again. It will look like the weatherman will give us a reprieve from the raine predicted for this weekend.
BTW, another place to place a bookmark BMWCCA Houston...

I forgot I had an FTP site where I could make available the maps and instructions to get to Dave 330i's house. Those who did not get a chance to give me their e-mail address have received a PM with a link to the maps.

I'm afraid I won't be able to make it today... Caught a bad cold 2 days ago, probably because of the temperature drop. Still not feeling well this morning, so...
Have a good time guys! And don't forget to take lots of pics!
Guys,
I have to extend an apology to you for buggin out on this...life is a little crazy right now, and at some point something has to give. So, from the deeps...sorry.

It looks like many prospective attendees had last minute changes to their schedules come up as we had a very poor turnout. :(
Well, maybe next time.
