i am contemplating leasing a new 530i for my wife without the sport package. I own a 2004 330ci with sport package and with winter wheels and snows it is just fine during snow storms. Can the same be said of the 530? Are new wheels necessary for the 530 or just snows...(I am only ordering the standard wheels unlike the 330 I own)? Thanks in advance! Please note that we are replacing an Audi AllRoad!

Please note that we are replacing an Audi AllRoad! You can get a set of 225/50-17 Bridgeston Blizzak snow tires mounted on 17"x8" Mille Miglia MM11-2 Sports for just $200 per wheel and $138 per tire from Tire Rack. That will help tremendously in the snow and ice.

JUst like the E39 5-Series and your 330Ci, the new E60 530i does not have a limited slip differential and needs all the help it can get to climb snowy hills. If you're going from an Audi allroad with 4-wheel dirve to a BMW 530i with 1-wheel drive, you need the WS-50 tires if you want to be sure you can reach your destination safely.

I was so unhappy with the snow performance of my 540i 6-Speed that I installed an M5 limited slip differential. That really helped!
