Can I put a 2000 M5 rear on a 1999 540I automatic. If so, is it just a straight change or are there other issues I need to deal with. As you can tell, I have no ideal whether the fact that the M5 is a stick has an effect on the 540I automatic rear.

iirc you'll need a lot of parts, lol. it requires more than just the rear diff (i assume 'rear' means rear diff) the auto/stick thing doesn't matter here. i think this would require everything from the diff, to the half shafts, and out to the hubs.

You'd need a custom driveshaft which could pretty much dwarf the cost of all the other parts combined.
