Why does BMW offer a 7% discount on the cars to do Euro delivery? Is it just to show off the cars on the autobahn and lead to word of mouth advertising? Or are there some legal loopholes since we actually pickup (purchase?) the car in Germany rather than the US? :dunno:

Yeah, check out some of the threads above. You can actually get even more discounts than the 7% if you go to an ED-friendly dealer. One big reason for offering it at all is that it helps establish brand loyalty. But also keep in mind that they DO make money on it. Those threads will have more info, but basically the way ED is set up, BMW's overhead is a little lower as well.

Make sure you fight for ED invoice plus $1000-1500 dealer profit . It is common to get this price . Check the threads for ED invoice price specially on the 3series, it is harder to get on the 5 series.

Well, BMW probably makes a little more money on ED cars than on regular delivery cars. They simply pay less "kick back" (aka CSI money) cash to dealers for them. At the very least they make the same but it ends up being a nice alternative purchasing option for customers.
Good for them and good for us.

OT - I am really surprised that Audi/VW did not get on ED bandwagon yet. They could market their AWD Alpine winter adventures so well...

Yep. And I agree that it sucks that Audi isn't doing it. I would've at least CONSIDERED one, although I probably would've come back to BMW anyway. But the way it is, I ruled out Audi simply because there was no ED.

Actually, I think they don't pay the CSI money at all on an ED car....

By the way, I was able to get the dealer down to 750 over invoice, and he threw in floormats. There was a MACO fee though. Either way I cross shopped 8 dealers and got the best price when i finally went into my local shop.

If possible, could you let me know who your SA was. I'm looking in TX. Thanks.
