Well, you get the idea.... Those are just some basic components, and doesn't even come close to a complete car. Damn... these parts are expensive to buy seperately.

Funny :)

I wonder why the bodyshell is different for the diesel... (or is it)?

It's not. The Part Number matches 2.5i and 3.0i too.

Any plans to bring in the diesels to the US? I'm sure this has been discussed but I'm in my lazy mode.

A friend of mine bought a VW Beetle TDI that was originally purchased in Arizona. If a used diesel is purchased and it's at least 6 months old it can be registered in Calif. (you can't buy a NEW VW diesel in Calif). There is a burgeoning cottage industry in Nevada and Arizona for getting a supply of these "lightly used" VW diesels into the Calif. market. They are pretty hot. My friend's Beetle gets 46mpg overall (but mostly freeway miles). I can't imagine how many diesel X3s BMW could sell given the gas prices and the fact that many X3 drivers are not hot-rodders (if the TV ad campaign is any indication they are targeting young soccer moms).

PS...I hate the new BMW TV ads....they are almost as sickening as those sugar coated Lexus ads.
