Does the dealer get the Marketing Incentive for a car that was ordered in November and delivered during the Incentive Month of January? ($2500 for a 325)

I've been out of the loop for a little while, but, yeah, you should get it,
assuming it is a January program. If it was solely a November program,
you'd be s.o.l. Back it the '90's we had what was called "sold order
price protection" with BMW. Incentives could be claimed outside of
the program period...

Incentives are claimed through the RDR (Retail Delivery Report) process
when a car is "punched" (i.e. reported sold to BMWNA by the dealer).

My question is - this is a Manufacturer to Dealer incentive - will they pass the savings on to us, the consumers?

That's my question too, the price of the car was negotiated in November when there were no incentives and the order was placed based on that price. Now does the dealer get lucky by having the car show up for delivery during a month when incentives have just been offered?

Any "good" dealer would pass along the savings to the consumer. No doubt customers have had dealers that slide one by -- scooping up all of that extra gross profit. That's the beauty of being informed through sources like Bimmerfest. As a BMW General Sales Manager - turned - psychotherapist, my best advice would be for you to contact your Client Advisor now, let him know that you are hip to the new incentives, and verify that they are going to keep the agreed upon profit margin the same...

I did little more research before contacting my Client Advisor and it looks like the incentives are for Sedans only and not Wagons.

Thanks for the reply anyway...maybe it will help those with Sedans on order.

Anyone know if the incentives can be applied to a 330 xi? I should have one arriving next week.

According to Edmunds the incentives apply to RWD 4Door Sedans only.

Okay, I'm in a similar situation. The dealer and I agreed on a price for an '05 330i zhp three weeks ago with the plan to pick it up tomorrow. Now, the MF and the Residual have changed (higher/lower). After harassing the dealer into upholding our agreement on the original price and payment, can I now expect him to deduct the $3800 from our deal? That would be sweet! Thanks.

Ordered my 330i on 10/29 and took delivery on 12/18.

Does this mean I'm SOL on the $3800?

Uh, yes. Isn't it obvious?

BMWs marketing allowances are based on one factor only-- when the vehicle is RDR'd (reported sold to BMWNA). Regardless of when you "buy" or "order" the car (buy and take delivery the same day vs. ordering 3 months in advance), the incentives are always based on the retail delivery date of the car. If you order a car and there is an incentive in place when you pick up the car that wasn't there when you ordered, you luck out. If you order the car at a time when the incentive is in place, but can't take delivery until after the incentive ends, you are out of luck. It's that easy.

So b/c I took delivery 2 weeks too early, I'm out $3800??

I leased my 330 on the last day of the month in July of 03 just so that the store could pump up it's numbers by a little bit. The next day BMWFS came out with hugely subvented lease rates. Equated to about $80/mo x 41 months.

I personally begged our regional rep for a week to let me unwind the car and redo it under the new program. No way, no how.

Them's the breaks.

Yes.

If you had taken delivery one day before the program started, or one day after it ended, it would have the same result. Unless you take delivery during the stated time period, there is nothing they can do. BMWNA makes no exceptions for this. Otherwise, where does it end? If you are entitled to it for taking delivery 2 weeks before, how about the guy that took delivery 3 weeks before? How about a month before? How about the guy that buys the car the day after the program ends?

If you use the December MF and residual numbers for the lease, the dealer can't get the $3800...

If you are using the January numbers, then he will have to lower the price by the $3800 incentive, or he won't be able to come close to your negotiated lease payment..

I think so. I am just about to close a deal on a 2005 330i ZHP and the dealer is willing to give me Invoice price ($40,735) minus Incentive ($3,800) plus $1,500 profit to dealer. This gives me a selling price of $38,435 on a brand new BMW that MSRP's at $44,470. The dealer said that I MUST take delivery in January or this price does not happen. Fortunately, the exact car I'm looking for just arrived in Port.

Needless to say, I think this is a great deal and I can't wait to own my first BMW....just a week away.
