I noticed this morning that the right blinker was on ( no blinking just constantly light on like when you forget your lights ON and you turn your car off) even thou my car was shut off.

I started the car and the right blinker kept blinking even thou the blinker control was in neutral. The only way I could turn the right blinker off is by turning the left blinker on. So right blinker is on in neutral or when turned on and off when I turn the left blinker on.

Help, any idea what is wrong with this thing? How difficult is the problem, could I fix it or will I have to go to the dealership?

This is a 99 323i.

Hm, bizarre. The blinkers should stay on solid of the switch is moved to the left or right position while the ignition is off (so people can see the side of your car while you are parked on narrow European streets).

I would guess that your problem is simply the blinker switch (in the stalk) itself. I could be totally off base here, perhaps someone else can post their ideas..

If that is the problem, here's a link that shows the part #

(I don't know what the difference between the two parts it shows is... )

Installation looks pretty straightforward after you remove the steering wheel:
