This has become a close question for me. The automatic trunk opening/closing has virtually no value to me, but if anyone has any thoughts on that, they might prove helpful.
The main reason I am considering the option is because people slamming car doors has become a pet peeve. My main questions now:
1. When these (soft-close) doors are slammed, does it hurt the closing mechanism?
2. Have you had reliability problems with either the trunk feature or the door feature?
Thanks for your help.

1. No, closing them like normal doors has no effect.
2. I thought the same about the automatic trunk feature, but have found it to be a very convenient feature.
No functional issues thus far, 10k miles, though I have not had any functional issues with anything else in the vehicle either. I sometimes feel like it's the "calm before...."
Best feature, of all, is the adaptive cruise...strongly recommended.

"1. No, closing them like normal doors has no effect."
That is good news. It sounds as if the doors are similar to the trunk with the pull down motor on my Lincoln Town Car.

I think that you have scared me off with this comment, although if enough people slam the door before my order must be finalized I may switch back and add it in.
I am afraid the bottom line is that there just did not seem to be enough added value for the money.
Thanks for your comments on the Active Cruise. I do use cruise control all the time and I am sure that I would get a kick out of having it, but I just cannot justify the $2,000 additional cost. Perhaps next time I will feel more comfortable buying more bells and whistles, but $2,000 is about 9% of what I paid for my Town Car when it was a year old.
Thanks for thinking about my conundrum and taking the time to write down your thoughts. I placed my order today for European Delivery as early in May as possible, so I am psyched.

One other good thing is that if you dont push the door enough to close the door the convinience package will close it..... (that is helpful in rainy days).....
