Possible to get wider tires?

I'm no tire expert.

I've got the staggered set up on my 330Ci.
Is it possible to put wider tires on the factory wheels (17 inch) ?

Why?…I really like the look of wide tires. And would it handle better?

Do you guys think this would be a wise decision?
What sizes would I run?

Yes, handling would be much improved if you were to run the same width tire all the way around. I’m running 245/40/17 tires on 17 x 8 wheels all the way around for the track.

Your OEM wheels are probably the 68M wheels which are 17 x 7.5 in the front and 17 x 8.5 in the rear. Squeezing a 245 wide tire on a 7.5” wheel is possible, but it would be tight. You’d probably be better off running a 235/40/17 all the way around because they would fit better, they’d be lighter and you’d get slightly better gearing… meaning quicker acceleration. Unless you track your car, you wouldn’t miss the 10 mm per tire.
