Me too. And that's only a little bias...
The 3 series facelift, performance pack (from a visual standpoint, eg body kit) and the accompanying wheels make the 3 series look sharp. The pre face lift looks very dated from the way the lights are "slicing" instead of curving in the front. I also never liked the way BMW standard fronts look busy. That's why the BMW body kits with their air dams look so nice and right on the BMW.
I prefer the creases in the side of the current e46 over the e90, but the latter does look OK. Replace the mirrors of the e46 and it'll look great, but for some reason the rectangular mirrors looks alright from an aerial point of view. Plus, the rectangular mirrors will no doubt yield a more useful surface area and make them more functional.
Something about the e90s dimensions annoy me. I think the stubby rear and the long hood in a long profile makes the e90 look badly proportioned. The wheel base is really long, which I'm sure is good for stability but probably not as great for maneuveurability, but that can be said for each generation of 3 series.

 Anyone want my ZHP?
The E90 looks pretty good. If only the interior wasn't so damn boring.
the 3er finally gets the uptodate bumper-fender gaps and fitment that most cars have had years ago. :tsk: some of the newer trucks/suvs had smaller gaps than those of the e46's. plus the e90 fender-hood-bumper transistions are better chosen to reduce cost of repair in minor incidences.

The E90 doesnt look aggressive at all. Not ever a little, ZHP of course.

The kidney grills on the ZHP look so much better, that's my only complaint about the E90.
I never thought I would be saying this (as I like the e46 styling), but in that picture and both cars being in that dark of a color, I would say that the e90 looks much better than the e46 ZHP front that angle. The e90 looks more aggressive and looks more muscular (or fat if you will) due to the higher beltline and thicker rear end, thicker A/B/C pillars, etc. Perhaps in a lighter color the e46 ZHP would look better, but the dark color really hides all the lines and curves (or lack thereof), of both cars. Again, this only applies to the front angle, not the rear or the interior which I still prefer the ones in the e46s.
PS: The cars are not very proportionate to each other either, as I don't think the e90 will look that much bigger than the e46.

Humm...
This is an apples to oranges compare.
Compare that E90 to a non-ZHP, non-ZSP e46 would be fair.
Now, when they get around to putting a hot facia on the e90 (e.g., e90 ZHP), it'll smoke.

ZHP spoiler on the E90. Of course, the E90 will get its own spoiler.
It just goes to show how a simple change makes a world of difference.

Actually, one needs to crop in an '01 330i w/SP. The SP (non-ZHP) front fascia combined with the pre-facelift headlight was the best looking E46. The 2002+ sedans look too squinty.

Kris, is that enthusiasm or disgust?
BTW, there will be no more posts on my part re the E90 if it falls short of my
expectations as to driving *feel*.
