History
This car was purchased used in 2002 from a doctor in North Carolina. The car was used as a daily driver. Upon inspection, the car appeared to have been well maintained. I attended one driver school the day after purchase just to check the car out. I then parked it and began the preparation.
The car was immediately dismantled and inspected for chassis stress and worn parts. The custom TC Kline Roll Cage was welded in and all bushings and worn chassis parts were replaced with new. If there was any doubt…. The part was replaced.

With TC Kline (my boss) as consultant throughout this project, race prep was near complete in late summer 2003. I attended 3 track weekends for preliminary testing and evaluation of the car. Things went ok, but I still had some tuning to do….. back to the garage.

Further modifications were completed and the car went to Sebring for testing at the 04’ Winterfest event. The car performed flawlessly and was finally ready to race. This was a great test for my latest design sealed radiator shrouding. In the Florida heat, the temps stayed right where they needed to be.

I installed the ARJ ramp angle/ shimmed 3:91 limited slip differential and took the car to its first club race at Putnam Park. The next race was Beaver Run.
After winning the Beaver Run Race, the engine was removed and the cylinder head went to our engine builder ARJ Race Engineering to receive freshening, 7 angle racing valve job, lightweight valve train components and E36 M3 LTW cams were installed. Bored throttle body, larger HFM, Oscar Velez software, and custom intake were added to this package. At this time, a practically new (approx 5000 miles) 5 speed transmission was also installed.
The car has since run 2 more race weekends.

Important Note: An additional racing engine short block is currently ready to be built to match the ARJ race prepped cylinder head for this car and the fresh engine will be installed upon purchase. You can hear run, test drive the car, and purchase the car for a lower price as it sits today, just the way it left the track after winng both saturday & sunday at Mid Ohio Great Pumpkin Race. I would even consider selling without the engine. The new short block should add another 15-20hp

We have been using 4:33's in the world challenge 325cis....still see over 140mph at Road America, Mosport, and Road Atlanta with a 33% restrictor plate.

we have run redlines from 8250 to 8750 based on what was dictated by SCCA.....some of the motors in 2003 ran closer to 9000. For 2004 we were limited to 8250 to "reduce engine wear" by SCCA. Having the higher redline really helped make the shorter gear ratio sweet by reducing the number of shifts.....essentially the higher redline gave us a more trackable gear ratio. For 2004 we changed the cam timing to produce more HP at the lower RPM. Did a comparison at Road America with our 3:91 vs the 4:33 and we were never able to reach more than 138mph with the 3:91.....the 4:33 got us to 142

a couple of places on the track we would bump into the rev-limiter with the 4:33 but with the 3:91 and the restrictor we just didn't have the juice to get the car to move as well....lap times slowed with the 3:91......Easy track/street upgrade is to change out the rear-end...relatively simple and cheap way to add torque and get into the power band :thumbup:

Cranking up the R's wins races. I realize the power falls off above certain RPM, but you can carry it further and pass others while they are shifting, especially when there is a short shift for others at the end of a straight. A competitor with lets say a 3:73 is always in the same gear as you at corner exit and typically running the same diameter tire. Coming off med or slow corner the 3:91 will get up and go, typically passing someone. Once you are in front, you have an advantage even against a faster car. I like it, it wins.

Turns approx 7450 at the end of the (longest straight) back straight at Mid Ohio. I forget, but I think the rev limit is around 7750. I personally would not twist a Legal JP engine much beyond that without expecting premature failure. After all, the prize money will not even come close to purchasing a Happy Meal.... Pete

Hi Pete!! Good luck with the sale. I really hate to see you get rid of ‘er, but can certainly understand. Like I said before, if you were putting this up for sale a year from now, I’d be all over it!! Good luck!! :thumbup:
