Concerning my 2004 E60:
Just wanted to give props to the people at Global Imports BMW. (dealership in ATL) The level of service I have received there is nothing short of amazing.
First of all, I did not buy my car from them. At first this looked like it might be an issue with giving me free loaners, but even after knowing, they still continue to give me the loaners. This is a big plus for me.
I had my car in recently for an oil change, misc recalls and the seat heater fix. While it was in the service lane, a guy was checking it for dents and dings. Turns out it's a service they offer to fix issues while you have the car in for service (not free of course). There was a mark on the rear bumper where the PO had backed into something. Someone tried to fix it with some touch-up paint, but it was painfully obvious it was there. I was surprised when the guy quoted 200 to completely fix it. It had been bothering my wife and me for quite a while, so figured it was a cheap fix. I agreed to have them do it.
I got the car back two days later (so long because the seats and software download). It was raining and dark out, so I couldn't fully inspect the car, but the bumper looked great where the spot used to be. Drove it home happy. Drove it the next day to work (Friday) and then back home (3 miles each way). Didn't drive the car Saturday. Got up early on Sunday to wash it. Was disappointed that there was some residue left over that I couldn't remove on the bumper. Was even more upset when I saw a scratch on the lower portion of the bumper as well.
I took the car back to the dealership the next morning and spoke with the people there. I was upfront with them. I told them that I couldn't be 100% sure the scratch was caused by them since I didn't see it when I got the car in the rain. I did tell them that the scratch wasn't there when I dropped the car off, and it was there by the time I washed it. I understand that it could have been a random piece of road debris that caused the scratch, but it was very suspicious that it happened right after I had it in for service AND it was on the bumper that I had just had fixed.
The residue stuff was a non-issue because it could just be buffed out back to normal.
The guy I was speaking with was actually the parts director. He listened to my story and said he would have to speak with the service manager. A few minutes later he returned and said that they were going to take care of the issues for me, no charge.
Now I come from a background of VWs where it was like pulling teeth to get the (steal)ership to do anything. I had to actually go find a technical service bulletin on my own for them to fix a sticky clutch pedal in my GTI. So this new level of service is quite a refreshing change.
I dropped off the car, got a free loaner, got the car back the same day and it looks excellent once again.
I just wanted to share my experience with this dealership and let people know that these guys are awesome!
Parts Director: James Hall
Service Manager: Dave Cody
Service Advisor: Johna Hollis
Also, I would like to recognize their level of service to either the general manager of the dealership or directly to BMW NA. Has anyone ever done that? Who do I contact?
People tend to lay out all their negative experiences on the web, so I thought it appropriate to show the other side. BMW by itself has made me want to purchase BMWs in the future but Global Imports has made me want to always buy them from them.
