I was wondering if I needed to use a special wax for my ZHP, I had heard that BMW would not warranty the vehicle if I didn't take such a precaution.

*sigh*

I have never seen ANYWHERE that not waxing would void a warenty. The sheetmetal paint and 99% or your car is no different than any other E46 regardless of what package it has had added on. Any of the items recomended here in the detailing forum will work.

Oooh, did someone say ZHP???

You have to go to the special BMW Service Dept Parts Counter. There is a special handshake for ///M & ZHP owners. Don't forget to get a case of ZHP-Air and the special tire pressure gauge. ;)

You can use any kind of wax as long as you don't have ZCW, then you need something special because of the extra salt protectant clear coat that has been put on your cold weather car.

You really need to keep that protectant maintained in Arizona don't you... :p

I don't have a ZHP but I was lucky, I found a guy on eBay that was selling some ZHP wax. It was expensive, but way worth it cuz my car is SO much quicker now! It's way more aerodynamic too! :p

I didn't get a ZHP just for this very reason. The M cars have been around for a while so it's relatively easy to get various types of M wax or polish but with the ZHP's being new and limited production the only place to get the ZHP wax is from your dealer.

Dear Willia///M,

I now realize I may have used ZHP wax on my e30 and a brillo pad on my M3. Am I in trouble?

Do they make special wax for my M Coupe? I was going to use Z3 Coupe wax but didn't think it was good enough for my car. :dunno:

Is that a 2000 M Coupe? If so then no, they don't make a special wax for it. :p

It is right next to the ZHP washer fluid.

Also, they probably would have a deeper understanding of your question on the e46fanatics board, where this type of query is typical.

I use ZY///MOL instead of ZHP Wax. It's especially fromulated to match ZHP & ///M spec. It's a little more expensive because of the multi grade properties it has. Just make sure you buy the original German made and not the Turtle Wax's Zymol crap that is licesnsed to them.

I still insist that the multi-grade properties of Zy///Mol out perform any specific ///M wax! But lets not start another one of those PC vs. Mac type of silly arguments over this, ok? :tsk: sheesh!

Forget Macs. Well I'm currently running a ZHPC, with special accelerated Windows. They charged me extra for it, but it stalls out twice as often (BSOD).
