View Full Version : Flat tire -- need to rebalance?

I heard a thumping noise coming from my right side last week. I couldn't find anything in either the right front or right rear tires. After I drove around in some heavy snowfall, I didn't hear the thumping again, so I figured whatever it was had gone away. This morning I noticed my right rear tire was completely flat (9 psi!). I inflated it back to 36 so I could see how long it takes to go flat again, but it seems clear I have a slow leak for whatever reason.

I plan to go to a Just Tires or Merchant's here in Baltimore to have them do a plug-patch repair. It's a non-run-flat performance winter tire (Dunlop M3), so I figure it should be okay. I guess I'll lose my V speed rating and will have to stay under 100 mph from now on...

My question is whether there's anything else I should have done. Do I need to get the wheel rebalanced, or should I be good to go once I get my tire fixed?

I guess it's time to make sure my temporary spare is at 61 psi anyway...

Rebalancing should be included as part of the patch repair.
