My friend is looking at a 1983 320i as a second vehicle for fun/to work on, etc. He told me that there are no aftermarket parts for this car..is this true? If it isn't, what are some sites or places to find good part for this vehicle?

Thanks in advance,
Alex

It's an E21... I'd recommend an E30, m'self. There are aftermarket parts for the E21s, but there are a lot more for the E30s, and a much better online support community. Plus, the E21's engine was much smaller for its weight than your average E30. It's carburated, which I find harder to play with than fuel injected. And both aftermarket and stock parts are easier to find for the E30s.

I find carburators much easy to work on, in fact, there's not much I can do myself to fuel injection.

The fact that you rarely have to work on fuel injection due to it's incredible reliability is prolly the better reason to choose injectors over carburators, IMO.

AlexI like both but all E21s (in this country) were injected,K- jet I believe. The later ones also had 1.8s rather than 2.0s

Sorry, ja, the 320i was K-jet (2.0 early, 1.8 late), and they didn't bring the carburated 320 over here. My bad.

Yeah, I knew that it was an E21, there was just no E21 'section.' Thanks for the help though.
